
Flag of Vietnam
Vietnam, officially the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in Southeast Asia. It borders China to the north, Laos to the northwest, Cambodia to the southwest, and Malaysia across the South China Seas to the southeast. Its capital city has been Hanoi since the reunification of North and South Vietnam in 1975.

History
20th Century
World War II
In 1940 the Nazi's invaded France. Imperial Japan decided to take advantage of French weakness. The Viet Minh communist rebels fought the Japanese and by 1945 they had took back control of the country claiming Vietnam independent.[1]
First Indochina War
The war was fought by France, and the French Empire the long-time colonial ruler in the Indochina, and Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos rebel communist forces. The war ended in French defeat following the surrender of a French army to the Viet Minh rebels in the Battle of Dien Bien Phu in 1954. This war later lead to the United States of America involvement known as the Second Indochina War or the "Vietnam War".[1]
Second Indochina War (Vietnam War)
The Vietnam War was a proxy war of the Cold War that occurred in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia from 1959 to 1975. The war was fought between the communist North Vietnam, supported by its communist allies China and Soviet Union, and South Vietnam, supported by the United States and others.[1]
Modern Era
The Priests of Pama, a sect of the Kree, found Mantis in Vietnam and believed she might become the "Celestial Madonna". .[2] She became a prostitute in a Vietnamese bar, where she met the Swordsman. She helped him regain his self-respect and followed him when the former villain attempted to rejoin the Avengers.[3]
