History
The Vigil of Vontsalvant was an unnamed man and the last of his people on the planet Vontsalvant in the Negative Zone. His planet was powered by the Crystals of Vontsalvant, though the supply began to dwindle and conflict broke out which ultimately left the Vigil as the sole survivor. He deemed himself unworthy of the crystals and stock piled them and left one out as a lure, to attract those who he deemed worthy by the strength of their character. Annihilus attempted three time to obtain a crystal but the Vigil defeated him three times. He was found by The Thing and they fought with Ben overpowering the Vigil and the Vigil was trapped under rubble. he demanded the Thing kill him, but Ben refused and then saved the Vigil from a roof collapse. The Vigil deemed the Thing worthy and gave him the crystal. After Ben left, the Vigil set up another crystal and waited for the next person he would deem worthy.[1]
