Pepper just had passed in her resignation to Tony Stark when a zombie version of Giant-Man initiated an outbreak at Stark International. Pepper urged Tony to put on his Iron Man armor and stop the zombies, only to hear from Tony that he had lost the briefcase containing the armor. Pepper then asked Tony if he had some trick up his sleeve, after which he opened up a safe containing what appeared to be a vodka bottle but was actually a formula. Pepper was then attacked by one of the zombies and was saved by James Rhodes, who had found the Iron Man armor inside the men's bathroom. However, Pepper was already zombified and was killed by Tony when he vomited the highly acidic formula on her, which was being developed as a potential cure for cancer. The formula then dissolved Pepper into a skeleton.[1]
