Synopsis for "P vs. NP"
As the narrator discusses the P vs NP problem, George Knowles greets his dog, Zeke, as he arrives home from work. Distracted by talking to Nora, he doesn’t notice Zeke walk out of the house. Zeke wonders down the street sniffing and eventually comes across the Visions’ house. Heading to the backyard, Zeke comes across where the Grim Reaper is buried. He digs up the body, then begins licking it before biting on the Grim Reaper’s blade, electrocuting him. Vision, who is trying to make a joke about Thanos’ appearance that Iron Man taught him, hears this, but the family, still tense from earlier, ignores his confusion. Vision decides to go investigate, and consequently discovers the body as well as Zeke, who has been charred where he stands.
The next morning, George comes by the house looking for Zeke. Virginia answers the door and invites him inside to look for Zeke. Despite his reservations, George goes inside and is shocked to find that the house interior has been completely ravaged; Virginia claims it is because of a unique remodeling process, with the backyard being dug up for a pool, though this is clearly not the case as Viv is shown huddling in a corner. Once it becomes apparent that Zeke is not there, Virginia remembers to return Nora’s cookie tray, which is bent out of shape. As she does, George finds Captain America’s lighter on the ground. He and Virginia marvel at how it still works, not noticing Vin pour some fluid down the nape of his neck.
It is later revealed that Vision reacted violently to Virginia being forced to tell the truth about the Grim Reaper. He eventually calmed down after she explained herself and the situation with Chris Kinzky, but while agreeing with her actions, wished she mentioned it earlier due to him needing to provide the alibi for her, and that the lie’s revelation would convince fellow Avengers of the doubts they have about Vision and his family, leaving them at the whim of regular people.
Vision, meanwhile, is shown working on Zeke’s corpse. He cuts out Zeke’s brain, and hooks it up to some wires. Vision looks at his bloodied hands with horror before electrocuting Zeke’s brain.
Sometime later, Vision comes to the house with a giant silver case. Inside, Virginia finds a green dog. Vin is excited to see it, but Viv initially does not notice the dog, as she is still huddled away. However, she cheers up upon seeing the dog, and Virginia holds Vision’s hand as she watches their children play with the dog.
As this happens, Agatha Harkness is shown meeting via the Scarlet Witch’s hologram with the Avengers, the Ultimates, and numerous other heroes. Agatha warns them that Vision will do anything, including destroy the world, to make sure his family can live a normal life.
Solicit Synopsis
• The book everyone is talking about.
• The first arc of this acclaimed series comes to its frightening climax. The bodies will not stay buried. The truth will not remain hidden. And The Vision will never be the same.Notes
- When first introduced, George's wife is called Nora in Vision (Vol. 3) #1, not Martha, and she is also subsequently listed as Nora on their mailbox in Vision (Vol. 3) #9. This appears to be an error, which was corrected in the collected version, with her again being named Nora.
