History

James Bradley, aka Doctor Nemesis, co-created the original Human Torch (Jim Hammond) with Professor Phineas Horton. Bradley, however, did not get any credit for creating him, so he decided to build another crime-fighting android. This second android, named "Volton," initially began fighting crime, just as the Human Torch had done. After some time, however, Volton went bad, eventually fighting against the Invaders as a member of the Battle-Axis, alongside his "father" Bradley (who was now calling himself "Doctor Death"), the Human Meteor, Strong Man, and Spider Queen. At the end of the battle with the Invaders Volton turned on Bradley and killed him.[1] His subsequent activities are unknown.

Attributes

Powers

Electrokinesis: Volton is a Synthezoid able to generate and manipulate electricity.

  • Energy Projection: Volton could discharge his electricity in powerful bolts of lightning.[2]
  • Electrical Aura: Volton's body generates an invisible electrical aura that electrocutes whoever strikes him.[2]
  • Flight: Volton can channel his electric powers to fly at speeds greater than those of Miss America. While flying the lower portion of his legs and his feet turn into bolts of lightning.[2]

Weaknesses

Volton's electrical aura is not active while he is flying, making him more vulnerable to physical attacks.[2]

Notes

  • This character is based on the public domain character Volton.

Trivia

  • Early art previews for Vision (Vol. 3) #1 showed that Volton would be alive and active in the modern day but since that book was canceled before its release, Volton's current status remains unknown.[3]
