History
Professor von Fleagle was a Nazi scientist who was active during World War II. By 1944, he was under the command of General Blauheim and stationed in a salt mine located in Lwow, Poland. Charged with making new and more powerful explosives, he developed a bomb that had the explosive capacity of 1000 standard German bombs. After a successful attack on New York City, Von Fleagle and his men began preparing more explosives for a larger scale assault on the United States led by Blauheim.
This operation was briefly interrupted by the arrival of the Human Torch and Toro. However, Von Fleagle activated a vacuum device that doused the heroes flames and allowed for their easy capture. To dispose of them, the Nazi scientist placed them in an air tight glass container to suffocate while Blauheim and his fleet of Nazi bombers took off for America. The Human Torch and Toro managed to break out of their prison and clashed with Von Fleagle, who was felled when Toro struck him in the face with a fireball. The Human Torch and Toro then set the salt mine to explode; the resulting explosion killed Von Fleagle, taking his secrets with him. Shortly thereafter, the Torch and Toro blasted General Blauheim and his fleet of bombers out of the sky over the Atlantic destroying all traces of the new explosive.[1]Attributes
Abilities
Von Fleagle was a brilliant scientist who developed a special explosive that was 1000 times more potent than typical bombs used by the Nazis during World War II. It is interesting to note that this bomb was developed prior to the first Nuclear bomb that was completed in mid-1945. While not nearly as powerful it was likely the most powerful explosive created prior to the unleashing of "Little Boy" on Hiroshima, Japan. The process of making these explosives is unknown and lost to memory following the death of Von Fleagle; however, it appeared to contain materials found in salt mine. If these were materials specifically found in the Lwow, Poland mine or are commonly found in similar mines remains unknown.
