History
Origin[]
Wanda Maximoff, better known as the Scarlet Witch, is known for her mastery of chaos magic. A former member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, the Scarlet Witch is a long-time member of the Avengers alongside her twin brother, Quicksilver.[1] She was formerly married to Vision.[2]
Contest of Champions: Book 1[]
The original twelve Champions and the Collector.
This classic variant of the Scarlet Witch was among the original twelve Champions handpicked and taken to the Battlerealm by the Collector to participate in the current iteration of the Contest of Champions. She was one of the three survivors against Sentry, having the ordeal wiped from her memory afterwards.[3]
Blood and Venom[]
—Scarlet Witch[source]They're lying about this place… Even death is not beyond his power. We'll never leave… We're cursed to fight the fallen Champions over and over. And even I can't wish this reality away…
When the Summoner and Guillotine were tasked by the Collector to scout an abandoned part of the Battlerealm where "the most ferocious" battle took place, they encountered a hopeless Scarlet Witch with symptoms of post-traumatic stress. Guillotine later theorized she was part of the Collector's failed attempts to revive deceased Champions.[4]
Cosmic Civil War[]
During the Cosmic Civil War, the Scarlet Witch joined Captain America's Blue Faction against Iron Man's Iron Faction. She assisted the Blue Faction in tracking down an unaligned Iron Man variant with Hulkbuster armor, though expressed concern when Captain America only sought to attack him to prevent him from joining the Iron Faction.[5]
Sorcerer's Conclave[]
The Sorcerer's Conclave performing the Arcane Door of Augur-Tendash.
Scarlet Witch was Doctor Strange's first recruit for his Sorcerer's Conclave that he released from the Collector's spell with the Summoner's help. In hope of learning Thanos' plans for the Infinity Stones, the completed Sorcerer's Conclave performed the Arcane Door of Augur-Tendash to communicate with Guillotine, who had been previously abducted by the Mad Titan. Their efforts were unfortunately sabotaged by Karl Mordo under Thanos' influence, but not before learning the method that the Titan had been using to birth new Infinity Stones.[6]
Dawn of Darkness[]
Scarlet Witch was involved in Dr. Strange's plot to trick Dormammu into trapping himself in the Battlerealm. Working together with Magik, Maximoff sealed off Dormammu's connection to the Dark Dimension, forcing him to use a body of matter.[7]
The Age of the Sentry[]
When the Sentry returned after thirty-five years lost in Battlerealm, the dark side of his psyche, the Void, restored the early memories of Scarlet Witch and the other two surviving Champions against Sentry to make them attack the Collector over his actions.[3]
Infinity War[]
After Black Panther scattered the Infinity Stones across the Battlerealm, Scarlet Witch along with Falcon, Vision (Age of Ultron) and War Machine were sent by Captain America to retrieve the Genesis Stone. The battlegroup encountered the Summoner and Spider-Man, who had just secured the Chaos Stone from the Nameless clone[8] of King Groot. Working together, they located and secured the Genesis Stone away from the Nameless clones of the classic variants of Vision and Scarlet Witch.[9]
Avengers Forever[]
When Ægon searched the Battlerealm for recruits to fight against Ronin's version of Thanos, Scarlet Witch was a member of the Avengers West Coast battling against an Ultron invasion they encountered in "the Land of Perpetual Rain". Following Ultron's defeat, she assisted in battling against the alternate reality variants of Thanos.[10]
Amazing Fantasy[]
Scarlet Witch was part of a group of sorcerers captured by Diablo and put under his control by his potions. She was later found and interrogated by Aarkus, who believed she was the evil sorceress he was searching for. As Vision tried to clarify her character to Aarkus, Maximoff suddenly attacked both of them. Upon her defeat, Wanda regained control of herself and explained to them what Diablo did to her.[2]
The Rise of X[]
Scarlet Witch attempted to prevent Iron Man from entering Krakoa since he wasn't a mutant.[11]Attributes

Notes
- On November 10, 2021, Acts 1 through 3 of Marvel Contest of Champions were condensed and rewritten, removing Scarlet Witch's role in the first two acts. Originally, Scarlet Witch briefly set herself free of the ISO-Spell using her hex magic, revealing to the Summoner that the Battlerealm was made of ISO-8. Although she succumbed to the spell, Maximoff individually freed several other Champions who worked with the Summoner to uncover that the Battlerealm is an unnatural realm outside of the Multiverse with an atmosphere designed to strip away willpower that was created by someone powerful.[12] Wanda later freed Storm, who warned the Summoner on the dangers of partnering with Thanos.[13]
