History

Archangel had an aerial battle with his younger self for the position as Apocalypse's Angel of Death. He engaged Angel by slicing him with his metal wing but Angel who did not want to fight him had no choice as older Warren was out for blood. Suddenly Archangel was swiftly killed as Angel cut off his head with a sword made out of pure energy thus becoming the new Death.

Later on in the present, a vision of Warren and his teammates prior to the extermination was seen in the mind of Cable after the time-displaced Jean Grey probed him to assess the veracity of his statements.
