Synopsis for "...As Dreams Are Made On... Part One: Crash and Burn"

Peter Parker acts as a fourth-wall-breaking narrator, recounting a tale from his past as a Freshman in college. Peter reminisces on how depressed he was at the time, humiliated by his doting aunt and outcast by the classmates he was not yet friends with. Peter also recounts what he heard of Quentin Beck's backstory, the man who would eventually become the supervillain Mysterio. Peter explains that according to a book later written about Quentin, the man was depressed after being put in jail multiple times by Spider-Man and returned to his childhood home where he encountered an old friend named Betsy Schnieder. The two reconnected but Quentin was still depressed and was getting rejected by all of his Hollywood connections when trying to acquire a new job. Quentin eventually resorted to adopting his Mysterio persona again to cope.

Spider-Man goes and antagonizes Jonah Jameson for fun but hears the next morning that Jonah was reported dead in a car crash, video footage supposedly showing Spider-Man as the cause. Meanwhile, Jonah Jameson is shown trapped in what appears to be Hell, but is actually a faked environment created by Mysterio.
