Synopsis for 1st story

Elder Dorgana and her fellow Darkholders are disappointed by Deathwatch’s offering, the others raising concern about the direction of their new leadership before the Hood enters and takes the scrap of the werewolf’s flesh, intending to clone the creature and extract from it the Darkhold energy they need. With him gone, the Darkholders discuss arrangements to remove their lord from power. In Colorado, Elsa Bloodstone and Mr. Knight brief Jack Russell on the events of his last transformation. Foretelling of more blood on Jack’s hands unless he finds a way to control his inner beast, Mr. Knight is escorted out of the castle by Elsa and her access to Mordred’s Causeway. Jack sits in silence, planning out his future of isolation as tears fall and ghosts observe. Elsa returns to find him crying, and he tells her that she must take him to a hidden place far away from people he can hurt.

She brings him to the Savage Land in Antarctica, where Jack theorizes his increased distance from the moon will grant him further self control. Opting to stick around for a while, Elsa explores the jungle with her friend Jack before losing sight of him for a moment. Catching up, she finds the Werewolf by Night howling from within the fresh carcass of a tyrannosaurus rex. When the creature sets its eyes on her, loud voices and loosed arrows bring their attention to the Savage Land’s protectors, Ka-Zar and Shanna. The wolf leaps into battle with their animal friends, beheading one and ripping into another before being headbutted into a tree. Ka-Zar orders his Beast-Men to take both Elsa and the beast into custody for breaking their laws.

The Hood sits enthroned in Bran Castle as his Darkholders present him with a long and heavy chest. The container is pried open, and Dorgana introduces the body of a man imbued by his sorcerous father with sinister incantations before pulling the Darkhold energies from him. Pleased, the Hood invites her to his den to discuss next steps.

Jack and Elsa stand in chains before Ka-Zar, Shanna, and other tribal leaders, accused of disrupting their nation and slaughtering their wildlife. Jack states his case, letting them know of his curse and asking for his friend’s freedom. The king of the Savage Land denies him, and with the council’s approval enacts a trial by combat. Chains removed and armed with a knife, Jack steps into battle with Ka-Zar but is quickly disarmed by his angry opponent. Ka-Zar beats him bloody, filled with rage for the werewolf’s injury of his saber-tooth tiger Zabu. Hours later, Jack checks the bars in a vibranium cage suspended within a dark pit, serving out his long sentence in solitude.

The disgruntled Darkholders attempt to assassinate the Hood while Deathwatch and his men are away, but find their secrets betrayed by Elder Dorgana. The Hood sics his newly cloned Darkwolf upon them, filling the air with blood and screams.
