Synopsis for 1st story
Two Darkholders walk through their castle base, observing the construction of upgraded defenses and questioning their cult’s new direction. Deciding they must wait for Lord Hood to slip up, they are halted by the new leader and Elder Dorgana before the Darkwolf tears the dissenters apart. As the beast feasts, Hood and Dorgana discuss the creation of more creatures like it. Jack Russell sits caged within a Savage Land pit, offered a serving of Triceratops lowered down by the land’s ruler Ka-Zar. Healed by his wolf form, he inquires on Zabu’s recovery before the king leaves him with his fellow prisoner, Dr. Karl Lykos.
Dorgana calls the werewolf king to her with her magic, and in the evening he howls from confinement. Ka-Zar and his family hear the sound from their abode, moving the king to interrogate Elsa Bloodstone as to the werewolf’s condition. As they speak with Elsa, Shanna considers resentencing their captive monster, noting his selfless intentions in entering their domain. The wolf’s cries continue to echo in the night, waking the Demo-Norus, a gargantuan and mythic creature that proceeds to destroy all in its path. As the giant breathes green fire into the Savage Land, Ka-Zar sends his son to rally the people to defend their homes. Shanna releases Elsa Bloodstone to aid them against Demo-Norus, but the huntress insists they will need the help of the Werewolf by Night.
Ka-Zar and his people rail ineffectively against the threat, the leader’s sword breaking in the monster’s hide. As Dorgana’s spell attempts to pry the Darkhold’s secrets from the wolf’s mind, Shanna and Elsa release him and point him towards the looming Demo-Norus. He unleashes his pent-up rage against the rampaging brute, swiping a large gash into its throat, bringing it to the ground. Before he can take vengeance on his captors, Elsa leaps atop the werewolf, using her bloodgem to expunge Dorgana and her coven’s influence from his mind. The Elder tells her followers that she was able to glean the content of one Darkhold page from Russell’s mind. Elsa notes that Jack was able to speak through the wolf - a new feat - before she subdued him, and questions if the Savage Land truly has helped her friend. Directing her attention to the carnage surrounding them, Ka-Zar exiles Elsa and the werewolf from his land, using Mordred’s Causeway to send them through a portal back into the mountains.
