Reprint of the 1st story from
Apache Kid #14

Aloysius Kare rides into a ghost town where he finds its lone resident, Tumbleweed Hawkins, firing his guns off ranting about ghosts that are after him. Spotting Kare, Tumbleweed fires at the roving cowboy thinking that he is a ghost as well. Deciding to investigate further, Kare rides off and changes into his alter-ego the Apache Kid and uses his Native American tracking skills to stealthily sneak back into the town undetected. Searching around the town, the Apache Kid happens upon three outlaws who are seeking a map that leads to the location where Tumbleweed struck oil years earlier, using the old man's superstitions as a distraction to search. They have only the Last Chance saloon to search, but so far Tumbleweed has protected it heavily. The leader of the outlaws plots a three pronged attack to try and get inside the saloon and recover the map, unaware that the Apache Kid has been listening in on their entire plan.

The Apache Kid easily dispatched two of the outlaws unnoticed and fights it out with the third when suddenly Tumbleweed spots him. Thinking that the Apache Kid is a ghost, Hawkins is about to shoot him when suddenly the Kid's horse Nightwind comes up from behind and throws Tumbleweed on his back and begins bucking. It is not until Tumbleweed acknowledges that the Apache Kid is not a ghost does the warrior command his horse to stop. The Kid then ties up the three outlaws and takes them back into town for justice with Tumbleweed thanking the Kid for his assistance.
