Synopsis for "The Treasure of Sierra Blanco!"

Kid Colt was passing through the ghost town of Sierra Blanco when he was stopped by an old man who told him to leave. When the Kid told the man that he was simply there for water the old man was able to spot that he was a decent man and allowed him to get some. While feeding his and Steel's thirst, Colt discovered that there was gold in the well but put it back. On his way out the Old Man told Colt that the town was founded by former conquistadors and that before they left back to Mexico they gave the town to his father who was a missionary. Now Old Man Wiler protects the town from people who wish to wreck it for believing of the legend of treasure it holds. Colt thanked the man for the story and water and was off on Steel/ While traveling just out of town he was stopped by a gang of outlaws who were going to take the town after the old man refused to sell it. The outlaws asked the Kid to join them in their raid bu the Kid refused and fled back to the town to help defend it with the old man. After a gunfight left the outlaws to surrender, Kid Colt showed the old man the gold who plans to use it to fix up and reopen the town for decent folk.

As an elderly man and a young boy watch the Western Kid and his animal pals Whirlwind and Lightning fight it out with some outlaws, the old man tells his grandson how the fighting trio first met...

Years ago Tex Dawson worked for the Bar-T ranch, and one night someone broke into the safe and stole all the money. When Dawson's employer searched the ranch hand bunks, the stolen money was found in Tex's bed. Before his chief rival, Jonas, could shoot the Kid he was stopped by the owner of the Bar-T. However, Tex insisted he was innocent and smashed out of a window in order to escape capture. Taking a horse, Tex rode out into the plains and came across a black stallion being attacked by other wild horses. Using his gun, Tex then scared off the other horses and was surprised to find that the black stallion bowing to him in thanks for the rescue. Dawson was impressed that he decided to take the horse as his own, calling it Whirlwind.

Further along the trail, Tex and Whirlwind came across a young girl named Sally Benson out looking for the wolf-dog that uncle gave her for a present and she now believes is a sheep killer, so she is out trying to kill it. When they suddenly spot the dogs shadow, the girl is about to shoot when Whirlwind suddenly kicks the gun out of her hands. As it turned out, the dog was innocent and had destroy the real sheep-killer, a wolf. Back on the trail, Tex and Whirlwind are greeted by the dog, and Tex finds a note on it from Sally, saying that the dog seemed insistent on following after them and so she was gifting the dog to Tex. Tex accepts the dog into the group, naming him Lightning.

Realizing that he saved his two animal pals from unjust persecution, Tex is inspired to deal with his own problems and returns to the Bar-T ranch. Sneaking near the bunk house, he overhears Jonas admitted to his friend Pete that he framed Tex of the theft so that he could take over his position at the ranch. With the help of Whirlwind and Lighting, the Tex was able to capture Jonas and force a confession, clearing his name....

... As the old man finishes his story the Western Kid has finished his battle and is heading out of town. The old man finishes his tale by telling his grandson that Tex soon left the Bar-T to help all those in need, earning himself the name the Western Kid.

Synopsis for "The Painted Peril!"

Apache Kid #18
A tribe of Sioux warriors led by Swift Buffalo are going on the warpath to drive the white men off their ancestral land. When this is spotted by some soldiers who send a reflected message across various outposts to warn Fort Madison and Captain Bill Gregory of the coming attack. While he puts his troops on alert, Gregory asks Aloysius Kare to do what he can to help, and get the aid of the Apache even though Red Hawk has vowed not to go to war under any condition. Kare rides off to meet with the Sioux, changing into the Apache Kid along the way.

Arriving at his tribe, the Apache Kid convinces Red Hawk and his people to raise arms against the Sioux attackers. As the two Native American factions clash, the American army arrives to witness the battle. During the course of the fight, both the Apache Kid and Red Hawk are knocked out and taken prisoner to be used as hostages. With their leaders defeated, the Apache agree to join forces with the Sioux and they flee leaving the soldiers confused and believing that Red Hawk has gone traitor.

That night as Swift Buffalo rallies for war, the Apache Kid breaks free from his bonds and frees Red Hawk and the pair quietly escape from the Sioux camp. When Swift Buffalo is informed of their escape, he rallies his troops to go after them. However the army is surrounded by soldiers who were brought by the Apache Kid and Red Hawk. When the Apaches and Sioux stand down, the Apache Kid attacks Swift Buffalo and defeats him in single combat. However when the Apache Kid shows Swift Buffalo mercy and spares his life, Swift Buffalo realizes the errors of his ways and agrees to end his warpath and work with settlers instead.

Synopsis for "The Outcast!"

Growling Bear, chieftain of the Navajo nation determines that his son, Tall Feather is too weak and pacifistic to be of any use to the tribe, and brands him an outcast. He is exiled due to his refusal to take part in a raid against an American army fort. Growling Bear's other son, Takawana, is only too proud to serve in Tall Feather's place. The Navajos lead a raid against the fort, but the fight results in a massacre. Many Navajo warriors are killed. Tall Feather returns, and exposes Takawana as the instigator of the failed raid. He explains that Takawana secretly wanted the raid to fail, in the hopes that Growling Bear would be killed, thus making him the new chief. Growling Bear welcomes Tall Feather back into the tribe and exiles Takawana.
