Synopsis
Bruce Banner, desperate to rid himself of the Hulk, bombards himself with an enormous dose of gamma radiation. Instead of a cure, this tragic experiment spawns a colossal kaiju-like creature called the "Apex." The Apex possesses the terrifying ability to create an army of gamma monsters, plunging the world into chaos. To combat the threat, the Avengers construct massive mechas. Despite their efforts, they are overrun and ultimately defeated, leaving only a handful of heroes to carry on the fight: Sam Wilson, Monica Rambeau, Bucky Barnes, Marc Spector, Alexei Shostakov, Melina Vostokoff, Xu Shang-Chi, and Nakia. Over the next decade, these survivors valiantly repel waves of gamma monsters, but when the Apex reemerges, the situation becomes dire. Reluctantly, Wilson seeks out Banner, who has exiled himself to a remote island. Initially, Banner refuses to get involved, haunted by guilt over the destruction he caused. However, he provides Wilson with the "Mighty Avenger Protocol," a contingency plan originally devised to neutralise the Hulk.
The protocol enables the heroes’ mechas to combine into a single, powerful super-mech. Even so, the Apex proves too formidable. Realising the stakes, Banner ultimately joins the fight. Using a gamma bomb, he transforms into a towering, Godzilla-like "Mega-Hulk." In a climactic battle, Mega-Hulk defeats the Apex but inherits its monstrous army, which he then leads toward New York. Wilson confronts Banner, appealing to their shared history and friendship. Moved, Banner redirects the army back to his island, choosing to become their ruler rather than their destroyer. The world is spared, but at the cost of Banner’s final isolation as a benevolent yet tragic monarch of monsters.
