Synopsis

In a flashback, Uatu, an ambitious disciple of the Watchers, is chosen by the Eminence to ascend as a full-fledged Watcher. The Eminence, along with the Incarnate and Executioner, warns Uatu of the Watchers’ sacred duty: to observe without interfering, no matter the stakes. Uatu accepts the mantle, though his fascination with the lives of mortals hints at an internal conflict.

In the present, Uatu faces trial before the Watcher Council for repeatedly breaking their cardinal law of non-interference. His transgressions include providing Doctor Strange Supreme the knowledge to recreate his obliterated universe, intervening to save Riri Williams, aiding Kwai Jun-Fan, Reed Richards, Nick Fury, Madisynn King and countless others, and enlisting Captain Carter in multiversal affairs. The Council accuses him of disrupting cosmic order and jeopardizing the balance of the multiverse. As the trial unfolds, the Watcher and Captain Carter are ambushed by the Executioner, who moves to erase them both from existence. They are unexpectedly rescued by the reformed Infinity Ultron, who battles the Executioner and the Watchers’ forces. Ultron sacrifices himself, holding off their attackers long enough for Uatu and Carter to escape. The Council, enraged by Uatu’s defiance, pursues them relentlessly.

Cornered, Uatu makes a desperate decision: he bestows the powers of a Watcher upon Carter and her team, including Kahhori, Byrdie, and Storm, to even the odds. Empowered but overwhelmed by their new abilities, the team fights valiantly as Carter devises a final strategy. She sacrifices herself, using her enhanced abilities to transport everyone to Doctor Strange Supreme’s reconstructed universe. Here, Strange Supreme, now fully one with his universe, confronts the Eminence, Incarnate, and Executioner. Using his unparalleled mastery over his reality, he strips the trio of their omnipotence, leaving them powerless but alive. Uatu convinces the humbled former Watchers to atone by observing and protecting life within this newly created universe, allowing them to experience the lessons of the lives they once ignored. As the group mourns Carter’s noble sacrifice, Uatu reflects on her bravery and the cost of intervention. Recognising the importance of perspective and the multiverse’s fragile balance, he extends an invitation to Kahhori, Byrdie, and Storm to join him as Watchers. Together, they pledge to safeguard the multiverse, honouring both Carter’s legacy and the lives they now watch over.
