History
Dr. Wilfred Nagel worked on recreating the Super-Soldier Serum for Hydra after the Siberian Winter Soldier program failed in the 1990s. In 2014, after Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D. were taken down by Captain America himself, Dr. Nagel was recruited by the CIA, who provided him with a blood sample of a partially successful Super Soldier replication test subject, Isaiah Bradley.
Dr. Nagel was eventually able to replicate Abraham Erskine's original formula, although he wanted to avoid changes to the subjects' physical appearance.[1] Before he was able to complete his work, he was wiped from existence when Thanos used the Infinity Gauntlet to wipe out half of living life in the universe.[2] Nagel was brought back to life five years later through the efforts of the Avengers undoing Thanos' snap.[3]
Upon returning in 2023, Dr. Nagel discovered that the CIA had abandoned the project, so he sought a new home in Madripoor, where he met the Power Broker, who funded the completion of his work. Dr. Nagel made 20 samples of his new Super-Soldier Serum, before it was all stolen by Karli Morgenthau and the Flag Smashers.
Dr. Nagel was hard at work creating new samples of the serum, when Sam Wilson, the Winter Soldier, and Baron Zemo came investigating the emergence of these new Super Soldiers. After the trio got all their information from Nagel, Zemo shot and killed Nagel to stop the creation of more Super Soldiers.[1]Notes
