History
Baron Strucker was the heir of Baron von Strucker, the original founder of A.I.M., and resented the organization for turning their back on him and his family. After the destruction of Death's Head at the hands of the Minion cyborg, Strucker deceived Spratt into believing he could help him rebuild Death's Head.[1] Strucker explained to Spratt that is was impossible to repair the Death's Head body after its destruction while fighting the Minion's android. Instead, he would use his arcane skills to facilitate in its reconstruction. Spratt agreed and collected for him a Bloodstone Icon, Tincture of Chimera, and a Wolfsbane Talisman. Strucker's real goal, however, was to use an unknown ritual to merge his body with that of the mechanoid, becoming a thing of science and necromancy. A horrified Spratt asked what he had done and Strucker told him of his connection to A.I.M and his desire for revenge. He then processed to slay Spratt and travel to the A.I.M. headquarters, slaughtering everyone there - ironically, becoming the very threat that Minion had originally been built to combat. The Minion, Dr. Necker, and Tuck pursued him as he continued his campaign of revenge and conquest.[2]
Time Travel & Avengers Confrontation[]
Strucker's next target was 1992 of Earth-616, where he intended to slay the heroes of that era and bring about the terrible future of Earth-9939. Unbeknownst to him. the Avengers of that already doomed era had travelled back in time to stop his evil from ever conquering their world. Minion, Tuck and Dr. Neckler teamed up with the future Avengers to battle Strucker, who had now grown to a gargantuan size. He easily killed She-Hulk with his titanic strength and fought off the assaults of Captain America and Wolverine. He then proceeded to drain the hex magic from the Scarlet Witch and grew into his future self. At full power, he atomized Rhino, Captain America, and Wolverine. Nearly about to complete his conquest of the past, it was Minion with the help of a weakened Scarlet Witch who was able to use the time device from the future Charnel to split the monster in two.[2]
Return and Defeat[]
The two halves of Charnel were thrown across time and space. One was thrown into the distant past of Earth-616, and became Kite. The other half was thrown into the far future. The two halves were eventually reunited, however, and reformed into Charnel.[3] Opposed again by the Minion cyborg, Dr. Necker, and Tuck, along with A.I.M. security forces, Charnel quickly defeated his enemies. He appeared to be unstoppable until Dr. Necker remembered that she had implanted a synapse disruptor in Kite's body before he reformed into Charnel. Activating the disruptor, she rendered Charnel briefly unconscious, buying enough time to place Charnel in an A.I.M. time machine, where they attempted to destroy him in a temporal warp. Regaining consciousness, Charnel mocked their efforts, claiming he could absorb time itself and that they were only making him stronger. Minion blasted him, apparently overloading him and sending his molecules scattered across time and space, seemingly permanently eliminating the threat of Charnel.[4]Attributes
