Wolverine: First Class Vol 1 7

Under the cover of a reindeer's hide, Wolverine stalks his way towards a group of mysterious men in hazmat suits. Easily dispatching them with the element of surprise at his side, Wolverine frees a truckload of caged wildlife before recognizing the metallic taste in the air: radiation. He dons a hazmat suit for a disguise and drives the truck towards the pillar of smoke that towers above the facility where Kitty Pryde is being held.

Flashback - 48 hours earlier. Wolverine barges into Kitty's room to berate her but quickly changes his tune upon finding her sobbing on the bed. She had recetnly overheard a phone call between Piotr and some unknown Russian woman. Hearing that the two had scheduled a meeting for that evening, Wolverine offers to help Kitty trail their young teammate due to their being "nothing on television anyways".

The spying pair follows Piotr's cab to an airfield where they witness a meeting betwen their quarry and some costumed indiduals. Colossus pleads to the reveald Darkstar and her brother, Vanguard, that their call to the mansion could have gotten him in trouble with his team, but they remind him of his pledge to their motherland and in turn, the Soviet Super Soldiers should they need him. The meeting is interupted, however, when their companion, Crimson Dynamo, informs his coworkers of the figures trailing Colossus. He flies to meet the pair and a fight breaks out between Dynamo and Wolverine. Darkstar subdues Colossus before he can act and Kitty manages to sneak aboard the plane just before take-off.

Inside the aircraft, Darkstar and Vanguard capture young Kitty Pryde after she reveals her prescence and discuss how her phashing powers may suit their needs quite nicely. Down at ground level, Wolverine overpowers the Crimson Dynamo by steadily dismantling his armor, and after the fight concludes, Wolverine has just enough time to make a mad dash for the plane on his motorcycle. Only able to reach the landing gear in time, the X-Man is trapped underneath the plane for the entire ride to Russia.

Upon their arrival, the landing gear opens and ejects a slumbering Wolverine into the open air above the Russian wilderness. The thousand foot fall, complete with multiple slams and crashes into trees and mountains, takes out the berserker for a full eighteen hours before he stumbles to his feet, fully regenerated.

Now in real time, Wolverine enters the facility to see Darkstar, Vanguard, Crimson Dynamo in a replacement suit, and a fourth figure standing above what he presumes is the reactor causing the fallout. Suddenly, Kitty phases out from the 'reactor's' core, straining for a breath she can't consume without succcumbing to the radiation. Knowing her air is running out, Wolverine breaks his disguise to dash for her, but one fatal gasp escapes her lips while half her body remains phased into the 'reactor', killing her instantly.

Solicit Synopsis

The SOVIET SUPER SOLDIERS have kidnapped Kitty's flame Colossus, and she and Wolverine must brave the dangers of Russia's irradiated Forbidden Zone to save him!
