Synopsis for "Zone of Alienation: Part 2"

As Wolverine enters a berserker rage over the recently slain Kitty Pryde, the mysterious figure accompanying the Soviet Super-Soldiers tears through his hazmat suit and transforms to reveal his true identity as Ursa Major. Man-beast battles man-beast to a standstill before Darkstar and Vanguard enter the fray. The unskilled trio is no match for Wolverine, however, as the small warrior drops the entire roof on his enemies while dodging their assault. Darkstar then gains the upperhand and explains how both Piotr and Kitty agreed to help her team once they were briefed on the situation. The duo phased into the reactor in order to divert the flow of radiactive waste to prevent a larger explosion that could leave most of Europe uninhabitable. Wolverine's grief turns to madness, and then his madness to rage as the small powerhouse breaks free to once again dominate the opposition.

Meanwhile, inside the core of the 'reactor', Colossus and an unharmed Kitty Pryde stand before a previously unseen foe. The creature, known as The Collective, is an amalgamation of mutant test subjects bound together by an experiment gone wrong. The facility was being used to irradiate Russian mutants and pregnant women alike in search of stronger mutants to serve the government in response to the large number of US-based superpowered beings. The Collective reveals that their apparation of Kitty's death had provoked the intended fight as a result, but Colossus cries out to the super mutant about the impending loss of life from the explosion beneath them. The Collective argues that while the explosion is indeed a minor threat compared to the story they were fed, its not their place to save the populace who turned a blind eye to their many disappearances. They then reveal their plan to absorb all mutant life into themself before enacting their plan on Colossus.

When Kitty is absorbed by The Collective, however, she is able to wrestle control of the host form from the other inhabitants. Wielding this immense power, she hurls the radioactive materials from the facility into space and seperates The Collective back into its individual pieces, including Piotr and herself. Wolverine and the Soviet Super-Soldiers evacuate the facility and reestablish somewhat positive relations after witnessing The Collective's demise. Kitty then reveals to Wolverine that while she was able to see that Piotr saw her as more of a little sister currently, there's no reason she won't try to change his mind!
