Synopsis for "Introducing the Black Widow"
During her séance for the Wagler family, medium Claire Voyant is accused of being a hoax. Unaware that they are being watched by Satan himself, Claire suddenly blurts out a curse against the family. That night as the Waglers are returning home, they have a terrible car accident that kills the entire family except for their eldest son James. James blames Claire for his family's death and goes back to her home and shoots her dead. This is all according to the devil's plan, who recovers Claire's body and brings it down to Hell. There he revives her as the Black Widow, endowing her with super-natural powers so that she can be his agent in the land of the living, to slay the wicked that would do evil deeds.
Her first task is to get revenge against James for killing her. She tracks James to the docks in New York where he is grieving over the loss of his family. Confronted with the woman he had killed moments ago, the fearful James attempts to flee, however the Black Widow catches up with him and touches his brow. Her touch kills him instantly and when a police officer arrives on the scene the Widow disappears. When the officer inspects the dead mans body he is shocked to find the mark of the Black Widow on his brow.
With her first mission a success, the Black Widow vows to her master Satan to eliminate all evil doers and send their souls to him.Appearing in "Female Creators Through the Ages"

Synopsis for "The Crimson Dynamo Strikes Again!"
In the Stark Industries Main Plant, the reformed professor Anton Vanko dons his Crimson Dyano armor to test if a "light laser" (a type of laser that difuses different from ordinary light) ray gun is safe for use. He's about to be blasted by the laser, but Tony Stark swings towards Vanko using a cable and pushes him out of danger. Vanko is disgruntled because his experiments (his way of repaying Stark's kindness) keep failing. Stark consoles him, and suggests Vanko apply additional lead coating in his armor for protection.
In Moscow, Khruschev orders two of his agents, the Black Widow and Boris to dispose of Vanko and Stark, and Iron Man if necessary. The two villains travel to America in a submarine. Once they arrive, Black Widow presents herself as "Madame Natasha" and Boris as her brother and teacher from Ukraine, who has allegedly travelled to America to see Stark's technology. Tony is captivated by Widow's beauty, and offers to take her to dinner while Boris explores the factory on his own. Boris waits for a guard to go on his round and enters a restricted area. Using a "special" spray, he corrodes the wall of Vanko's laboratory, and breaks in using his super-human strength, intending to kill Anton. After Vanko refuses to help sabotage Stark, Boris uses a "jet paralyzer," which incapacitates Vanko and wraps him in a sack. He leaves the factory with the sack, claiming it's a package being delivered for Professor Vanko.
Boris reunites with other agents, leaves Vanko in the submarine, and returns to Stark Industries. He slips back into Vanko's lab and steals the Crimson Dynamo armor. He begins to destroy equipment, in order to both slow down America's defense production, and catch Iron Man's attention. Stark is interrupted in the middle of his date with Black Widow and informed of an explosion in his plant. Tony returns to his factory with Black Widow, who is secretly rejoicing. Tony enters the plant, dons his Iron Man costume, and searches for Vanko, thinking his experiments with "laser light" started the chaos.
When he enters Vanko's laboratory, Iron Man finds the Crimson Dynamo. Iron Man thinks Vanko has donned his suit to guard his laser light machine, and offers to carry it outside. Crimson Dynamo strikes the unsuspecting Golden Avengers from behind with an electrical charge that damages his suit's circuits and drains his energy, knocking him out. Under cover of the thick blanket of smoke, Boris flees from the factory with Iron Man, and brings him to the submarine.
Iron Man is kept locked behind a steel door in the submarine, and Boris returns to soil to meet up with the Black Widow and finish off Tony Stark. Iron Man wakes up from his slumber, and recharges his suit using a lightbulb as a rudimentary power outlet. As soon as he tears down one of the walls holding him prisoner, Iron Man comes across the captured Vanko, and escapes with him after battering a way through the steel hull of the submarine.
When they return to the factory, Iron Man catches Boris by surprise and easily knocks him down. However, Boris recovers and strikes down Iron Man. Tony recovers and puts Vanko's ray machine out of harm's way before striking back. The Black Widow pretends to have been struck down, and calls for Iron Man's help, distracting the hero, and allowing Boris to blast Iron Man with an electric discharge. Vanko threatens shooting Boris with his laser light pistol, but the villain thinks he's bluffing. However, Vanko makes good on his threat, claiming America has been good to him, and shoots at Boris, causing the machine to explode and kill them both. Black Widow takes advantage of the confusion and escapes. Once the dust settles, Iron Man claims that Vanko sacrificed himself to prove his loyalty to America, and he shall never be forgotten.
The following day, Tony Stark is informed through a report of "Madame Natasha"'s true identity. Tony pities her, and the Black Widow is later seen on the run, lonely, abandoned, and in fear.Appearing in "The Marvel Q&A: Comics by Women, For Everyone - Interview with Jeanine Schaefer"

Synopsis for "The She-Hulk Lives"
Bruce Banner walks up the few steps to an office building in Los Angeles. Bruce thinks to himself that he can’t take it anymore. He says that sooner or later the police are going to catch up with him. He says that he needs to confide in someone. Bruce says that the last time he saw Jen that she was just his kid cousin, but that now she is a lawyer there in Los Angeles. Bruce says that Jen is his last hope. Bruce walks into Jen’s office and asks her if she needs some help because the book she is holding is as big as she is. Jen says that she would know that voice anywhere and turns to see “Doc”. She says that she hasn’t seen him since he quit med school for nuclear physics. Bruce says that only Jen ever calls him “Doc”. Bruce says what about her becoming a big-time criminal lawyer. Jen hugs Bruce and starts to say that she wants to hear all about him, but stops as she senses that there is something wrong. Bruce says that he might as well come out with it, but that he isn’t sure how to tell her. Jen says that they were like brother and sister, and that they told each other everything. Bruce tells her that he is a wanted man. He says that the police and army are after him. Jen says that she can’t believe it and asks what he has done. Bruce says that it isn’t what he has done, but what he has become. Bruce goes on to tell Jen the story of how he became the Hulk. Jen looks down at Bruce and realizes that he really means it. Bruce says that it is a chemical reaction that happens within him that he cannot control of cure. Bruce says that he feels like he is going mad. Bruce apologizes and says that he has no right to lay this on her. Jen tells him not to say that. She says that she wants him to come home with her, and that there must be an answer.
Outside in the parking lot, Bruce warns Jen that there may be danger involved. Jen tells Bruce that she is a criminal lawyer and that she lives with danger. Bruce says that it is not the same. As Jen pulls out of her parking space, two thugs watch her. One notes that she has someone with her, but the other one says that it isn’t going to do her any good. As they’re driving Bruce asks Jen what she has been doing. Jen says that she is keeping busy, and that she is defending a hood named Monkton that is accused of killing Nick Trask’s bodyguard. Jen says that Monkton is no saint, but that in this case he has been framed. She says that Trask hates Monkton, and that she thinks that Trask set him up though she hasn’t been able to prove it. Bruce asks Jen how she plans to defend her client. Jen says that she has a plan. She says that she planted a rumor that she has secret evidence proving that Trask himself killed the bodyguard. Bruce says that if Trask really is the killer that he might try to kill her. Jen says that those things only happen in the movies. Jen pulls into her driveway and the car with the thugs also stops. As they get out of the car, Bruce is warning Jen that she is playing with fire when Jen is suddenly shot in the back by the thugs. One thug gets out and says that he is going to finish her off and that “Trask said to make sure”. Bruce sees that Jen is still breathing and says that he has to save her. Bruce picks up a hose and sprays it into the thug’s eyes. Bruce grabs Jen and runs down an alley with her. The thug gets off a shot, but he misses because of the water in his eyes. Trask’s thugs decide that there have been too many shots fired and take off.
Inside the house, Bruce watches the thugs driving away. He says that he has to remain calm, and that only he, and not the Hulk, can help Jen now. Bruce sees that she has lost too much blood and figures that she is going to need a fast transfusion to save her. Bruce says that he needs equipment, but that he can’t wait for an ambulance to arrive. Bruce carries her out the door looking for a nearby doctor’s office. Bruce’s heart is pounding, but he manages to stay calm for Jen’s sake. Bruce spots a doctor’s shingle and runs up. There is no answer at the door, but Bruce says that he can’t fail her now. Bruce punches out a window and lets himself in. Bruce says that he will do the transfusion himself. He says that he remembers that they have the same blood type. Bruce performs the transfusion and then says that the worst part is going to be waiting. The minutes crawl by until Jen wakes up and asks Doc what happened. Bruce says that thank god that she made it. Bruce gets up and calls the police.
Minutes later, Jen is loaded into an ambulance. The police also arrive and say that they want to question him. At the precinct, the police say that Bruce has no identification or credit cards. They ask who he is. Bruce says that he is a friend of Miss Walters. The police says that what he is, is a suspect. The police leave to go talk to the district attorney. Bruce starts freaking out that he can’t let them find out who he is. When the police return, Bruce Banner is gone and there is a giant hole in the wall.
The next day, Bruce looks through the paper until he reads that “Miss Walters will recover”. He says that now that he knows she is safe that he has to be going since they will be looking for him.
Jen sits in her hospital bed. She says that her skin and bones seem to be tingling, but figures that it is just the medicine that they gave her. Jen thinks to herself that she should have listened to Bruce about Trask. She figures that Bruce must have run off because he was afraid they would discover that he was the Hulk. She decides that she had best forget about Bruce for now, and try to think of a way to prove that Trask is guilty. Suddenly three men in doctor’s clothes walk into Jen’s room. One of them says that it is time for her medicine. Jen says that she doesn’t know him. She asks where her own doctor is, and asks why it takes three of them to bring her the medicine. The man holding the “medicine” says that she asks too many questions, and that she isn’t going to like the answers. Jen shouts that they aren’t doctors. Trask’s man pours the “fateful chloroform” onto a rag while the other two men hold Jen down. They put the rag over her face, but as her breathing is growing heavy her pulse rate is still speeding up. Suddenly the three men are sent flying. The three men look up confused and see a giant green woman looking down at them. She says, “Now let’s see how tough you are… against me!” One of the thugs dubs the giant green woman “some kind’a She-Hulk!” One of the thugs pulls a gun and fires. She-Hulk lifts up the hospital bed and blocks the bullet. She says, “You called me a She-Hulk! And a She-Hulk I’ll be!” She then takes the bed and throws it at the three of them.
The three men go running out of the room to the elevator. She-Hulk reaches the doors too late, but she grabs the closed doors and rips them apart. She grabs hold of the elevator cables and pulls the elevator itself back up to her. She-Hulk then tears through the ceiling of the elevator. The three thugs push the open button, and magically the door open somewhere that they can run out of. She-Hulk gets angrier and angrier. She says that she is going to get them. The hospital staff tries to stop She-Hulk as she makes her way to the stairs, but She-Hulk just shoves them out of her way. As she runs down the stairs, She-Hulk says that she has “never felt this way before! I can do anything! I’m throbbing with power!”
She-Hulk runs out of the building just as the three thugs are pulling away in their car. She-Hulk pulls a lamppost out of the ground and throws it into the getaway car’s tires knocking them all off. She-Hulk grabs one of them out of the car and says that he has some explaining to do. The man begs her not to hurt him, and says that it was Trask that paid them “to kill the Walters dame! He was afraid she’d prove he framed Monkton for murder!” She-Hulk asks if he means the murder that Trask himself committed. The man swears to it. She-Hulk tells the surrounding police that they all heard that. She-Hulk starts to run away. One police officer tells her to come back, but She-Hulk says that if he wants her that he is going to have to catch her. The other cop tells him to let her be, as there is no law against green skin.

Synopsis for "Duel"
The X-Men have returned to their headquarters to find that Scott's wife Madelyne had given birth to their son Christopher while they were gone. As the X-Men fawn over the newly born child, Storm takes a moment to talk to Madelyne. Noticing that under the thin veneer of joy over her new child she is angry, Storm asks Maddy to open up. She explains that the whole time they were in France, all the X-Men called to check on her except for Cyclops. Storm tries to explain that Scott has always been private with his emotions and asks her to be patient with him.
Meanwhile, Kitty and Rachel are left alone with Christopher and Rachel is absolutely in love with her new kid brother. Kitty tells Rachel that she can't keep the truth about her origins away from Scott forever, however, the two take the moment look into young Christopher's mind with a psi-link. Rachel then promises that she will tell Scott soon about her origins and vows to her little brother that he will grow up in a better world than the one that she lived in.
While outside the Mansion, Scott thinks about the fact that he's a father now and curses Charles Xavier for not being there to share his joy. Light-years away, the Starjammer has been crippled upon its exit from the Sol system and is in poor shape. Charles feels terrible that they risked their lives to save him. The prognosis is bad, without their warp drive they are stuck and unable to return to Earth, and with their enemies hot on the trail, they may not be able to return Charles to Earth ever again. In private with Lilandra, Xavier expresses his doubts about leaving the X-Men and New Mutants in the charge of Magneto and asks her if he made the right decision. She reassures him and tells him that she did not want to lose him either.
Back on Earth, while Cannonball tries hard to write his term paper on a computer that just won't cooperate, the X-Men are outside playing a game of baseball. When Kitty notices Sam's troubles she walks away from the game and fixes his computer before heading off to take a shower. She runs into Storm who suggests that she take a shower down in the locker room because Scott and Madelyne are having a fight upstairs in her loft. Upstairs, Scott and Madelyne are arguing over the fact that he wants to stay to lead the X-Men because he doesn't trust Magneto. Madelyne does not want to give up her life for the team and calls him on his responsibility as a father. With their argument going nowhere, Storm steps in and suggests that it be decided by a duel between her and Cyclops to see who leads the X-Men, a challenge that Scott accepts.
Storm and Cyclops arrive just as the New Mutants are finishing up a training session. When the novice students hear that the two senior leaders of the X-Men are going to duel, they all go up to the observation deck to watch. While the X-Men and New Mutants watch on, Madelyne waits upstairs in Storm's loft hoping that her husband loses but is willing to go home without him.
Meanwhile, at the Grey family home, Rachel Summers returns to the home that, in her timeline at least, is where her grandparents live. She has come back to use her powers to repair the holomatrix globe she shattered earlier, and also leave a portion of her essence as well so that even though she will not be born in this world she will be remembered. As she is repairing it, a flare of energy rises from the place where Dark Phoenix died on the moon months ago and helps her repair the globe. Leaving the globe behind, she vows that while the little girl she was may never exist on this world she exists nonetheless and she will make a mark for herself. The repaired globe that she leaves behind has not only the image of Jean Grey, but that of herself.Appearing in "The Unstoppable Spider-Girl"
