History

The World Security Council are an international organization that oversaw S.H.I.E.L.D..

During the Battle of New York, the council requested Nick Fury's approval to launch a nuclear missile into Manhattan but despite Fury declining the request, the council launched the missile anyway. Iron Man then redirected the missile into the Chitauri wormhole in order to stop their invasion.
