History
With the reemergence of mutants, Marcus Glove and researchers at the I.B.S.S. began to fear the potential for a mutant apocalypse. To prevent this event, they developed X-Cise.[1] Glove sought the aid of Dr. Kavita Rao, but she refused to be involved.[2]
Much like the Hope Serum, X-Cise is promoted as a pharmaceutical cure for mutantism. Unlike the gene therapy of the Hope Serum, X-Cise is a neuroblocker, which burns out the thought center. The mutant powers are still present, but the ability/cognition/functionality to utilize them is destroyed. The treatment constitutes clinical brain damage.[1]
