Synopsis for "That Certain Mystique"

In a restricted part of the Pentagon, Mystique has to come to terms with the fact that Forge has implanted a nanotechnic inhibitor in her skull to control her shapeshifting abilities. Val Cooper, who oversees the situation, has doubts about Mystique's loyalty due to her history of betrayal. Now Mystique is coerced into working for X-Factor to avoid jail time.

Meanwhile, Havok is struggling with his uncontrollable powers and the containment suit he wears. He argues with Forge about the decisions to bring Wild Child and Mystique into the team, highlighting his frustration. Polaris tries to calm him down, but Alex explodes in anger and leaves.

Mystique observes the tensions within X-Factor and Val's manipulative behavior. Val and Wild Child confront about her spying on the team, warning her to cooperate and not to cross their authority.

Alex visits his comatose teammate, Strong Guy, in a medical facility. He reflects on the challenges X-Factor has faced, his own feelings of being out of place in the world and how he misses Guido's jokes.

Later, Mystique approaches Forge in his holographic environment, sensing that something is bothering him. She tries to manipulate him emotionally, but he remains distant and denies anything is wrong.

Somewhere else, Fatale appolgizes to Dark Beast for failing to capture Havok. But her boss is happy with the fact that his enemy Sugarman did not succeed either. Next time he will send someone else to take care of Havok.
