Synopsis for "Future Memories"
X-Factor's leader, Forge, is troubled by the unexpected post-apocalyptic scenario in their virtual reality training program, noting it wasn't what he anticipated. Wild Child enjoys the simulation, which portrays a ruined New York City. Despite concerns, Valerie Cooper encourages Forge to proceed with the program, revealing they are testing Sabretooth's integration and restraining collar while being observed by government officials. They hope to gather evidence of his behavior to remove him from the team. Sabretooth mocks the simulation but complies with orders to participate. The team faces holograms of familiar foes, and Forge becomes concerned about the unpredictability of the scenario.
Elsewhere, a young and less muscular looking Random sneaks through the underground base of Dark Beast. He finds Havok who is being held in stasis in a liquid tank. Random reflects on his betrayal of X-Factor and promises Alex that he will protect Polaris. Fatale interrupts, reminding Random of his mission to spy on X-Factor.
In the simulation, Shard appears out of nowhere. She claims the last thing she remembers is that she fought intruders at the X-Factor headquarters. This makes Forge suspicious about internal security. After the simulation is ended, Polaris leaves as she is unsure if he can be part of a team which includes Mystique and Sabretooth. Outside of the HQ, she finds Random and tells him about her doubts regarding X-Factor's direction.
Meanwhile, Shard reveals potential unauthorized access to Forge’s data. Forge and Valerie argue about withholding information from their government superiors. Valerie denies Forge's request but then ultimately deceives her superior about the day's training session to buy time.
