Synopsis for "The Beginning of the End, Pt. 1"
In his Colorado estate, Gideon prepares for the day with his morning exercise. He breaks through some of the best programs Shaw Industries has to offer, then towels off while listening to the day's schedule. Regarding the Da Costa stock inquiry, Gideon makes sure that his operative, Eve, is in place and ready to proceed with their plan. Gideon is assured by his assistant Adam that all will go well.
Two days later, in the Danger Room, Cannonball infringes upon Cable's practice session with the excuse that he needs practice too. Cable uses the opportunity to see if Cannonball is able to concentrate enough in a battle situation to limit the noise of his combustion. Surprising Cannonball with an arm blast, Cable learns that Cannonball still needs some work. In fact, everyone does; there just isn't much of an "everyone" anymore. In Brazil, the previous day, Eve delivers Emmanuel Da Costa his coffee. It's poisoned and he falls over dead.
In the X-Mansion, Rictor has lost his head. He's upset that Wolfsbane is still in Genosha and that the New Mutants have done nothing about it. He tries to get Boom-Boom to join him in a rescue, but Boom-Boom just shrugs him off and he storms away. Shortly thereafter, Cable gets quite the surprise in the library. It seems there is a bounty on Cable's head and a mercenary called Deadpool is there to collect it. Deadpool says a man named Tolliver is none-too-pleased with how Cable ended things and so Deadpool is there to eliminate Cable. After some fighting, Cannonball succeeds in sneaking up on Deadpool with his blast. The victory is short lived, however, when Deadpool wraps Cannonball up in a neural net. Fortunately, Boom-Boom, Rictor, and Sunspot enter the library as back up. Deadpool takes out Rictor, but before he can test his mettle against everyone else, he is himself taken out. Domino, a mysterious lady, stands behind him, having just placed three knives in Deadpool's back. The New Mutants notice the chemistry that Cable and Domino, apparently old friends, seem to have.
Later, Cable updates Domino on the team. Several key members have left, but Cable has some plans in store for new recruits. He also mentions he "mailed" Deadpool back to Tolliver. That night, Rictor sneaks out of the mansion. He leaves a note for Boom-Boom expressing his desire to help Wolfsbane in Genosha. A bit later, Sunspot is awakened by Gideon. Gideon informs Sunspot of his father's death by heart attack, to the kid's shock.Appearing in "The Beginning of the End, Pt. 2"

Synopsis for "The Beginning of the End, Pt. 2"
In the Morlock sewers, Masque and Brute had a mutant called Feral in their grasp. Within moments, Feral broke free and fled as the Morlocks chased her down.
Meanwhile, Cable was meeting with James Proudstar, telling him that he had to prepare for a mutant war, which the latter dismissed. Gideon looked at Cable on the monitor and was informed that Sunspot had arrived. Gideon attempted to comfort Roberto on the death of his father and vowed to help him adjust as the new CEO of Da Costa International.
At the New Mutants’ Bunker, Cable, Domino, and Boom-Boom discussed how Rictor had left the team. Suddenly, Cannonball had entered the room, insisting that’s they searched for Rictor, which Cable refused. Cannonball and Boom-Boom decided to pursue Rictor themselves.
Meanwhile, Proudstar was going to Camp Verde, where he found it desolate, only with a Hellfire Knights mask on the ground and vowed revenge on Emma Frost. Back at the bunker, Roberto came in and told Cable that he was leaving after the death of his father. Cannonball, who watched Sunspot storm out, was angry that Cable would let the former’s best friend walk out. In the Danger Room, Boom-Boom and Domino were discussing Cable’s decisions. Back at the bunker library, Cable and Cannonball were arguing over the former’s decisions.
Cannonball said his goodbyes to Sunspot. Proudstar came in and told Cable and Domino that the Hellfire Club had wiped out his whole village and asked him if they could help fight each other’s wars. Feral was on the other side of a wall, overhearing their conversation.
Meanwhile, an unidentified figure laid down on the floor of the Danger Room.Appearing in "The End of the Beginning (The Beginning of the End, Pt. 3)"

Synopsis for "The End of the Beginning (The Beginning of the End, Pt. 3)"
The New Mutants hear battle noises in the Danger Room. They check it out and find a mysterious warrior destroying their equipment. None of them know the brutal warrior, so they attack him. It’s a hard battle but Cable eventually manages to defeat the man.
Later in the infirmary, the man introduces himself as Shatterstar, travelling back in time to enlist the X-Men's help in defeating Mojo and Spiral. The team is then attacked by Imperial Protectorates sent to kill Shatterstar however, they are all killed.
Later, Boom-Boom goes for something to eat, she finds Feral in the kitchen! The two fight as the New Mutants arrive. Feral explains that she’s being hunted by Masque and his subterranean goons, looking to start a war with the surface world which she wants no part in. The New Mutants believe her as Cable kills Brute, Masque and Hump get the point and leave.
After some rest and a shower, Cable gathers the team for a talk. Everyone agrees that they are no longer safe. Cable explains that Shatterstar, Warpath and Feral have all agreed to join the team in return for some help. He suggests they move away from the bunker, since they are no longer. After a discussion, everyone agrees and they depart.
Elsewhere, Stryfe returns to his troops, the Mutant Liberation Front, dispatching a small task force to do some damage. After that, he thinks about the coming war, which is going slower than he would like. He takes off his helmet, and is revealed to be… Cable?!
