Synopsis for "Whispers in the Night"
In the evening, Selene, a powerful woman, is in the city with her pet creature, sensing something glorious in the night air that she must possess to rebuild her influence. Meanwhile, Nate Grey and Madelyne Pryor are high above Paris, marveling at the city's beauty. Nate's telekinesis fails, causing them to fall. After they survive, both admit that there is a special bond existing between them. Unbeknownst to them, Selene observes and plans to take advantage of Madelyne's hidden power.
In Genosha, the cruel Sugarman demands information on Nate and Rex from his mutate underlings. In Paris, Madelyne tells Nate about her flashes of being hurt by a group called the X-Men. Selene appears, offering Madelyne power through a gem pendant. Nate is oblivious to Selene's presence, and Madelyne is torn but drawn to the dark power.
Rex, a mutant hunter, watches them both. Madelyne runs, with Selene urging her to embrace her destiny. Nate catches up, but Madelyne is swayed by Selene's promises and vanishes with her, leaving Nate heartbroken. He hears a faint goodbye whisper as he remains alone in the night.
