Synopsis for "The Impossible Boy"
The Marauders return to Krakoa, where Kate Pryde is immediately informed by the Stepford Cuckoos that Professor X wants to see her. Already seated with Magneto, the two are ready to take action to bring the mutant Franklin Richards to Krakoa. One reason is that Franklin's powers seem to be fading, and Professor X is determined to investigate this. Magneto explains that Franklin recently returned to Earth as a young man after an adventure with the Fantastic Four. Given Kate's personal connection to Franklin from past events, Professor X wants her involved in recruiting Franklin. Therefore, she is tasked with traveling to New York with the Marauder, where a Krakoan delegation is already waiting for her.
At the Fantastic Four's HQ, Reed Richards examines his son but still can't find a solution to stop the loss of Franklin's powers. Franklin is frustrated and tells Ben Grimm that while his father can solve any problem, he continually fails when it comes to him and Ben. Shortly after, the mutant delegation arrives at the Fantastic Four’s base, and tension immediately arises between the two sides. Kate easily phases through the force field created by Sue Richards and hugs Franklin to diffuse the situation. Both sides sit down to discuss the situation, but it quickly becomes clear that Sue is adamant about not letting Franklin go to Krakoa. However, Franklin himself is not asked what he wants, so he sneaks out with Kate to Washington Square, where there is a gate to Krakoa.
The mutants and the Fantastic Four follow them, leading to a fight. Franklin tries to use the distraction to pass through the gate, but it doesn’t work. Mr. Fantastic reveals that he has invented something that masks Franklin’s mutant gene, preventing the Krakoan gates from responding to him. The mutants retreat, as Professor X knows that Franklin, now angry with his father, will likely find his own way to Krakoa.
While the Marauder is at sea on its way to the next mission, Kate Pryde discovers not only that Franklin has stowed away on the ship but also his sister Valeria. However, there is no time to dwell on this, as the ship is suddenly attacked by none other than Doctor Doom.

Continuity Notes[]
- Both Bishop and Pyro are seen fighting together as members of the Marauders; however, Pyro is seen without his full-face tattoo. This creates a continuity error, as Bishop joined the Marauders the same night that Pyro received his tattoo in Marauders #1.
