Solicit Synopsis

“FIVE MILES SOUTH OF THE UNIVERSE” When Rogue, Magneto and Gambit jumped into space on an intergalactic search and rescue mission, they had no idea that it would land them in the middle of an extraterrestrial war! And to make matters worse, the space station that serves as the battlefield for the conflict is slowly falling into a collapsing star. With time running out and the lives of Havok, Polaris and Marvel Girl on the line, these X-Men are in for a bumpy ride...

Good issue. Pretty much. Definitely the best so far.

X-Men Legacy Vol 1 256

So big shocker here, but Havok and friends were mind controlled. Wow. Anyways, this issue was cool to see Marvel Girl use her powers again, and she sure did. Polaris and Magneto had a one second reunion, but hopefully we'll see more of that later on. Rogue once again borrowed Frenzy's powers, to which she joked of.

I do like Mike Carey as a writer, but sometimes one thing he does bothers me. He has said before in interviews that he "much prefers to create his own villains" than use older ones. And that's cool. I loved the Children of the Vault, I thought Pandemic was an awesome idea, and the uses of Legion's powers were pretty cool too. And hey, he even used the Marauders whom I love by the way. But I feel like these Grad Nan Holt too much resemble Styx. From just the last arc.

But hey, the story should be focusing on the return of the Starjammers-and it mainly did too. I really did not agree with Rogue at first, but than when she said about a billion lives were held in the balance, I was almost inclined to. Still, I feel like she might have made a mistake.. OK, fine, she didn't. ;)

Overall, it was a great issue. All the X-Men and Starjammers were finally combined, and it was as good as a reunion as we'll ever see to be honest. However, I'm giving it a 4.5 out of 5. It was good, believe me, just not entirely a full 5 stars.
