Synopsis for "Slaughter in the Savage Land!"

Lonely Cyclops walks through the forests of the Savage Land still trying to comprehend that Jean Grey did not survive the crash of the X-Men’s Sentinel Air Transport. In his grief he fires an enormous optic blast which attracts a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Before a fight with the creature develops, Beast swings into the scene and carries Cyclops away from the dinosaur. Beast and Angel then tell Cyclops that Jean may not be dead after all.

Meanwhile, a hungover Bobby Drake wakes up in the apartment of Vera Cantor and Zelda Kurtzberg – two girls which him and Hank had been dating over the last few months. Zelda is not amused because Bobby did not contact her for weeks and now, he is seemingly showing up in the middle of the night because he has trouble with another girl named Lorna Dane. Suddenly, Bobby picks up a telepathic message of Professor X which originally was directed towards Alex Summers and Lorna Dane. Bobby realizes that the X-Men are in danger and he plans to do something about that. A perplexed Zelda then calls Candy Southern to ask her if she knows what is going on in Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Looking at a picture of a winged Warren Worthington Candy answers she was never able to visit the school herself.

In the Savage Land, the X-Men are back with native tribe who found them after the crash. The tribal chief explains to Cyclops that their priests put people who will die soon into a boat and ship them to a so-called paradise. The same happened to Jean Grey and Cyclops has no idea that the girl he loves is now in the hands of Magneto. The X-Men need to find out the destination where the boats are headed. After Angel took off alone to fly over the mountains, Cyclops and Beast are confronted by tribe warriors who do not want outsiders interfere with their traditions. To make matters worse, the priests of the tribe are actual bat-like beings with large wings and fangs. Cyclops and Beast can grab one of the boats and escape through the tunnel, but not before one arrow hits Scott right into the chest. When the boat reaches the exit of the tunnel, the two X-Men find themselves not in paradise, but amid huge, towering buildings. Somehow Scott’s wound has miraculously healed itself just before the boat is captured with a large cage.

At the same time, Angel does not fare better than his comrades. Turbulence makes him crash down on the snowy side of a mountain and he is knocked unconscious. Then, another winged creature appears...
