Quote1 Whatever happens today, I need you to promise me something. You looked into my mind and you've seen a lot of bad, but... you've seen the good too. The X-Men. Promise me you'll find us. Use your power, bring us together. Guide us. Lead us. Storm. Scott... Jean. Remember those names. There's so many of us. We will need you, Professor. Quote2

History

The story of the X-Men followed the same path as its Earth-10005 counterpart until Wolverine from that reality traveled back in time in order to stop Mystique from killing Dr. Bolivar Trask.

First Class[]

X-Men (Earth-10005) from X-Men First Class (film) 0001

Original team (l-r) Professor X, Banshee, Havok, Magneto, Mystique, and Beast (absent).

Prior to the formation of the X-Men, Professor Charles Xavier and his associate, Raven Darkhölme, were contacted by agents of the CIA to help investigate the Hellfire Club, a clandestine organization of mutants with suspected criminal operations. The association with the CIA soon brought Xavier into contact with other mutants, including Erik Lehnsherr, Havok, Darwin, Beast, and Banshee.

Xavier's mutant group then came into conflict with the Hellfire Club, which led to the murder of Darwin at the hand of the Hellfire Club's leader. Xavier resolved to stop the Hellfire Club and began training his young group in preparation for conflicts to come. During subsequent confrontations with the Hellfire Club, Erik and Charles' views regarding the path of the emerging mutant race diverged, resulting in the end of their friendship and the fracturing of their emerging team. Erik, now going by the name "Magneto", left to form the Brotherhood of Mutants, with Darkhölme following him, while Xavier continued to shape the others into a team with a higher purpose: the X-Men.[1]

Disbandment[]

Not long after Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters opens, the war in Vietnam starts and intensifies, causing many of the school's students and faculty to leave. Xavier eventually shut down the school, and he and Hank isolated themselves within the mansion.[1]

Visitor from the Future[]

X-Men (Earth-10005 Revised) from X-Men Days of Future Past (film) 0001

The consciousness of Wolverine from a dystopian future was sent back into the mind of the version of Wolverine living in 1973 to avert the assassination of Bolivar Trask by Mystique. He mentored a disillusioned Xavier and encouraged him to join forces with an imprisoned Magneto to stop Mystique. Magneto betrayed Xavier, Beast and Wolverine and apparently intended harm towards the President and his cabinet. He disabled Wolverine by impaling his body with metal debris and drowning him in the nearby Potomac River in Washington, D.C. Mystique, disguised as the President, shot Magneto and turned her sights onto Trask, but a mental projection of Xavier persuaded her that killing was not the answer and she departed having saved the lives of everyone in the White House safe room. Due to the actions of Mystique, the Sentinel program was cancelled and Trask was arrested for selling military secrets.[2]

New Future[]

Following the averted assassination of Trask, Wolverine awoke in the X-Mansion to find Iceman, Rogue, Kitty, Colossus, Storm, Beast, Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Professor X alive and well; the school thriving with activity and no sign of the devastation of the dystopian future. Wolverine had no memory of events between 1973 and the new present.[2]
