History

The X-Men were a group of mutants brought together by Mother Akkaba and Apocalypse to realize their goals of mutant dominance. [1]

The X-Men took part in mutantkind's wars, first against humanity and then against the machines. After a century of war, mutantkind was near extinction. Most mutants had been evacuated to Shi'ar space, leaving a handful of X-Men as the last remaining mutants in the solar system. [2]

Led by Apocalypse, the X-Men embarked on a mission to learn the true origins of Nimrod. The X-Men managed to retrieve an index key containing the location of the information they sought, though at the cost of two of their members; Cylobel and Percival. [3]

With the key decoded, the X-Men embarked on their final mission; retrieving the information they needed. They chose a two-pronged attack, with Xorn, Rasputin, North and Cardinal attacking the Church of Ascendency as a distraction, while Apocalypse led Wolverine and Krakoa into the machine database to retrieve the information they needed. [2]

North and Cardinal were killed, and Rasputin and Xorn sacrificed themselves, unleashing the singularity within Xorn's head and destroying the machines that had intercepted them. Meanwhile, Nimrod engaged Apocalypse's team. Apocalypse sent Wolverine ahead with the information they had gathered, as he stayed behind to hold Nimrod back, seemingly perishing in battle. [2]

Their purpose served, Wolverine awoke Mother Akkaba and implanted her with the knowledge they had retrieved, per Apocalypse's instructions. He proceeded to kill her, allowing her to reincarnate with the knowledge of exactly when and how Nimrod emerges. [2]
