Synopsis for "Lights Out"

Beast returns to the ruins of the Xavier Institute for one last goodbye. After being dropped off by Wolverine, he makes his way straight to the subbasement where automatic sensors and machinery begin to resume function. Beast sifts through important files on various students and in a heartbeat he incinerates them with a twenty thousand degree laser emitter; spreading the ashes to the wind. He then proceeds to rummage through the mess, picking up useful and sentimental items that survived the destruction. Back in the lab, Beast again tries to salvage what he can of his crucial work as well as the suspended brain of Martha Johansson. Beast then nostalgically exits the ruins, saying goodbye to what once was the home he loved.

She apologizes to the depiction of her brother and decides that her loved ones can help her feel human again. Illyana teleports herself to the Xavier Institute only to find it in ruins. Synopsis for "The Hole"

Imprisoned nearly twenty miles beneath a distant planet, Havok is tormented and broken in an isolated cell by the constant screams of his friends (especially those of his love, Polaris.) Suddenly, Vulcan's face is projected behind him with a large unsettling grimace. He reports to Havok the events that have transpired on Earth in his absence. He tells him of the miraculous mutant baby and the fight that ensued to claim her. Vulcan adds that Cable betrayed them all by kidnapping the child only to lose her again; along with the death of Charles Xavier and of the X-Men. It's all too much for Havok to bear until he realizes that with a mutant baby comes hope for their future. He summons all the energy he possesses to crush the wall projecting his brother's face... And in his defiant and optimistic attitude, Havok vows victory over Vulcan.

Synopsis for "Idée Fixe"

Forge is fixated on the time components Cable brought back from the future. So much so, that he travels to his destroyed Eagle Plaza home while still recovering from a bullet to the head (received in a fight with the renegade Bishop.) Forge begins work immediately but is once again attacked by the now one-armed Bishop. When he wakes up, he finds that his unreasonable adversary has stolen a powerful robotic arm and all of the research on Cable's time components. He quickly grabs the nearest tool he can find and etches his notes on the metallic ground from memory. Several days later, Forge's research lab is completely rebuilt and he gets to work on all his enthused ideas; which includes a stronger security system.

  • Colorado
    • Dani Moonstar's home

Synopsis for "The Sun Also Sets"

Dani Moonstar roams peacefully around in her warm Colorado lodge until a sudden burst of electrical energy blasts through her front door. Surge staggers towards her, pleading for her help before collapsing in Dani's arms. The next morning the two go on a brisk walk along the rocky mountain side and Surge opens up with the confliction she has being leader of the New X-Men. Surge tells Dani that she feels empty inside but a pain still lingers that drives her into isolation and causes her to make the wrong decisions. Dani rebuts with her own experiences, telling Surge that she decided to face her demons and that the pain she felt only made her stronger. Surge still unimpressed with Dani's philosophy is taken up to a high peak and awe inspiring landscape. Dani tells her that this is what keeps her going and that pain helps lead to healing. She adds that no matter what happens the sun will rise again. Surge refutes this with the inevitability that "the sun also sets."
