We can't give the authorities any excuse to move against us. We have a plan. We may not like it -- but for the sake of the future, we have to give it a chance. Quote2.png

Synopsis for "Six Weeks Later"

News reporter Manoli Wetherell announces that the X-Men died from an explosion at the X-Mansion. As Nick Fury also presumably died in the explosion, Ziggy Trask becomes the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. As the Avengers lament the X-Men's death, the Scarlet Witch secretly notes that she sensed something at the X-Mansion when the X-Men "died", but can not deduce what it was.

Perfect Storm enters a fit, as she can no longer seek vengeance on Kitty Pryde for giving her a scar. The remaining X-Men commit to finding a cure for burnout and Archangel urges them not to give the authorities any excuse to move against them as they formulate a plan.

Meanwhile, Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, has heard about the accident, and does not believe this himself. He sets out to "get pictures" of what remains. When he arrives, he jumps over part of the wall that is left, to search for clues that the X-Men are still living. He encounters a Neo-Sentinel, but it leaves him alone when it detects that he is not a mutant. Peter thinks he sees and hears Nightcrawler teleporting.

At a State Orphanage in Nebraska, Nathan Essex tells Dr. Hanover that his prolonged longevity must have come from "borrowed time" and identifies Nathaniel Summers as victim of such borrowing. Essex instructs Dr. Hanover to bring this boy under the direct care of Mr. Sinister.

In New York City, Spider-Man goes web-slinging on a night patrol of the city. He sees a fight ensuing, and goes into the alley way to investigate. There, he finds Rogue in her recently acquired Nightcrawler form.
