Synopsis for "What Dreams May Come..."
Xavier leaves Earth with the mutant Skrulls to become their teacher, being seen off by Shadowcat and Colossus on Muir Island. As Xavier leaves, Kitty tells Peter that the X-Men should follow their dreams, as well as her wanting a life beyond the X-Men, thinking now might be the time for her to do so.
Xavier senses this, though he's confident that Kitty, despite her feelings of abandonment, betrayal and anger, would've likely done the same thing if she was in his shoes.
At the same time, at Xavier's, Wolverine, Rogue, Gambit, Marrow, Arcangel, Psylocke and Nightcrawler are playing a game of baseball. While Ororo is distracted and thinks that the X-Men are only going to face more turmoil due to the past several months' events, Logan assures her the team'll find a way to win whatever's thrown their way.
On Genosha, Magneto and Polaris watch a group of mutates battle a group of human rebels. When Lorna suggests they get the local fractions from killing each other, Magneto remarks that's why she's there, to help power him up due to his recently weakening abilities before they join the fight as well, Polaris wondering if she made the right call to join Magneto.
Meanwhile, Mystique infiltrates the National Reconnaissance Office in order to try and clean up her tracks by finding who's responsible for the exposure of several of her previous identities.
In Genosha, a heated debate is taking place between the Acolytes and Fabian Cortez, who believes they should overthrow Magneto due to his weakening powers and the fact it's taking longer for him to recharge each time, though the debate is halted by Magneto as he returns with Polaris, who's still debating over her choice to join Magneto as any blood Magneto sheds might be on her hands, though she also wonders if she could take him on if she tried to.
In Alaska, Nate Gray approaches Jean as she's mediating as Phoenix and thinking about her own death. Sensing Nate is still blaming himself for Scott's death, Jean tells him it wasn't his fault, and that Apocalypse not taking the fact that the X-Men are willing to sacrifice themselves for each other into account was what led to his downfall.
Meanwhile, Mimic, Toad, Blob and Post have gathered in a log cabin to plan a heist involving a secret weapon being made at Paradigm Micronics that could potentially make them rich.
Iceman and Beast arrive on Genosha in order for Hank to commit research on the Legacy Virus, due to Genosha having the biggest mutant population in the world as he fears someone might retrigger it, which would make the deaths the virus caused resume.
Back at Xavier's, the X-Men are relaxing after their game when a hologram of the High Evolutionary arrives, much to the team's surprise.
High Evolutionary then states that mutantkind is too dangerous and as such, he has decided to put an end to it.
Adding that he doesn't wish to harm them, High Evolutionary adds he has built an energy field to neutralize the mutant genome, reverting the mutants to the humans they could've been.
As Rogue and Gambit protest this and Betsy makes a sarcastic remark, Kurt realizes that High Evolutionary's plan is already underway as he wouldn't have come otherwise.
Despite this, High Evolutionary has prepared a rebuttal to their arguments, pointing out that in a world with no mutants, they won't be struggling to free themselves from the oppression most of them have been subjected to since either puberty or birth, nor will they need to worry about Magneto.
Logan tries to reason with High Evolutionary, pointing out there are several other, non-mutant beings who're powerful, like Thor, Dr. Doom, Mandarin and Hulk, as well as pointing out that Scarlet Witch, Firestar, Quicksilver and Beast would also suffer and, as part of the Avengers, said team likely wouldn't take this lightly.
Despite the somewhat reasonable argument, High Evolutionary begins the procedure and the effects are shown around the globe: Kitty and Colossus both convulse with agony as their powers are stripped away, while in Alaska, Jean crash lands onto the ground, with Sunfire and X-Man doing the same in their respective locations.
At the same time, Cable feels the techno-organic virus in him attack as his own powers vanish while the members of both X-Force and Generation X also experience their own powers being stripped away.
As Aurora, Northstar and Sabra also scream in agony as their own abilities are neutralized, Magneto and the Acolytes undergo the same thing as Magneto realizes that, should word get out, the island's factions will certainly come for him as revenge.
Mystique, almost done with her scheme, suddenly undergoes the procedure herself, making her easy prey for some guards as it causes her to briefly black out in pain. At the same time, Post, Mimic, Blob and Toad also get stripped of their powers, causing Blob to become very skinny, though retaining his massive folds of skin, Post becoming a normal man and Mimic to lose his current and previous abilities (though Toad seems thrilled as the procedure has given him a very handsome appearance and he's now able to stand upright like a normal person).
As they also undergo the depowering process, Bobby and Hank (the latter now with only a few clumps of fur on his body) hear the same thing is happening globally, prompting Hank to suspect that somebody else may also be involved.
After the procedure is done, High Evolutionary tells the X-Men (as Warren loses the last of his feathers and Kurt completely turns human) that while he knows it seems unfair, he hopes that they'll accept everything in time. Xavier's dream is now complete. High Evolutionary then tells the group to enjoy their new lives as he departs, leaving the still in shock X-Men completely... ordinary.

Synopsis for "Heaven's Shadow"
This story is continued from Uncanny X-Men #379 and X-Men (Vol. 2) #99.
Having recently returned to the mansion, Hank begins to explain about the current state of the mutates on Genosha.
Hank explains that, thanks to the satellites responsible for their power loss, evolution is going much faster than it should, with billions of different paths for it are being explored in just one generation.
In attendance to his presentation is Kitty, Colossus, Storm, Nightcrawler, Rogue, Gambit, Marrow and Bobby.
Storm and Colossus then both discuss High Evolutionary and how he changed the fact that evolution at one point did move slowly but, as Peter points out, High Evolutionary only wanted to help both mutants and humanity, and yet, something's going wrong.
After going over the brief bit of history Hank managed to pull on High Evolutionary, the X-Men work out Sinister's identity as Essex, who High Evolutionary briefly worked with while at a university in his original identity of Herbert Edgar Wyndham.
Realizing the satellites and their depowering is really Sinister's doing, the X-Men wonder what to do next. Though Storm briefly suggests calling in the Avengers and/or Fantastic Four, Beast replies said teams are likely dealing with other affairs at the moment and so, they should handle this themselves.
Kurt agrees, pointing out they have a stockpile of alien weaponry to aid them, and the others agree.
In space, High Evolutionary is being held in a stasis tube by Sinister, who remarks his old 'friend' has only himself to blame, to which High Evolutionary admits he always suspected something was off with Essex and warns that, once Sinister's plans go into play, the Avengers, Fantastic Four and even S.H.I.E.L.D. will come to stop him, to which Sinister decides to create an army of the New Men to counter them.
On Earth, Rogue tries to contact Mystique before going on the mission, only for Darklome to yell at her for everything, to Rogue's dismay.
As the team prepares for their mission, Kitty expresses some hesitancy about it, for if they succeed in regaining their powers, humanity will hate them again, though she agrees with Kurt, Ororo and Peter that being a mutant is their birthright and no 'cure' can change this.
Wolverine then arrives and decides that, despite his rapidly failing health due to his adamantium poisoning, he's gonna go out fighting, thus joining the others.
On Genosha, Magneto, Polaris and the Acolytes are still fighting against the humans the best they can. Despite Cortez claiming the X-Men would probably be happy to have him die, Magneto remarks the X-Men are hardly powerless and they'll find a way to stop the situation or die trying.
Meanwhile, the X-Men blast off and, once passing the satellites, all briefly feel a wave of nausea. Hank puts it down as G-Force, which their mutant powers had protected them from before while Kitty thinks it's because of the satellites.
However, Sinister has already predicted the team's arrival and is watching them, to High Evolutionary's horror. While Sinister admits he had lost the team in the depowering, he will put them through their ultimate test.
Upon reaching the station and cutting their way in, the X-Men are told by Hank that they need to find the controls for the satellites by finding Sinister and High Evolutionary.
As they make their way through the halls, Gambit realizes that the path is leading one direction the X-Men must follow, which all but marks this as a trap.
This is proven correct as the team comes under fire from several of the New Men (an owl, ameba, lizard, monkey and others). As the group begins fighting back the best they can, Wolverine takes Kitty and Storm directly to Sinister, stating he can detect Sinister's scent, to Kitty's surprise.
As they reach Sinister while he gloats to High Evolutionary, Logan comes under attack by an evolved rat. As Kitty demands Sinister to call off the New Men, another evolved ameba quickly and easily engulfs her and Ororo.
Logan manages to fend off his rat opponent and slice Sinister's chest, prompting him to blast Logan away. To Sinister's surprise, while Logan's injured, he's still standing.
This naturally prompts Sinister to keep blasting him as Kitty watches in horror. As she remarks to herself that nobody human could survive, Kitty mentally puts two and two together and realizes Logan's healing factor is slowly returning.
With only a little struggle, Kitty phases herself free from the amoeba and deduces, as she tells Storm, that the nausea the team felt when entering space wasn't due to G-Force, but their powers kicking back in once they were away from the satellites.
Hearing this, the alarmed Sinister realizes his error in not making the satellites affect them on the station as well but remarks it can be easily fixed.
However, Logan manages to strike the computer console, causing a giant explosion that sends them flying and rocking the station. The others arrive and Storm informs them that the satellites are down.
While Hank begins treating Logan, High Evolutionary arrives, having been freed from his prison and reveals Sinister managed to escape via their vessel. He thus offers them a lift home, only for Storm and Kitty to both confront him, the former stating this wouldn't have happened if not for him and the latter remarking he can't exactly expect them to trust him after everything he did to punish them and that it'd still be going on if Logan hadn't destroyed the console.
However, High Evolutionary reveals Logan merely freed him by destroying the console and he did the rest of the damage himself. With the team looking out in space, High Evolutionary admits he merely wanted to help them, not 'punish' them, like Kitty claimed.
He also adds that the global genetic order is being restored on Earth even as they speak. Sure enough, Blob, Omega Red and Jean are shown regaining their abilities, as does Mystique, who successfully escapes prison by disguising herself as a guard.
On Genosha, Magneto and the Acolytes, powers restored, successfully beat the humans back before Magneto meets with Lorna and remarks the possibilities are endless now.
Back at the mansion, the X-Men, including a healed Logan, stand proud, happy to have their powers again.Appearing in "Oh, the Humanity!"

Synopsis for "Oh, the Humanity!"
The story continues from Uncanny X-Men #379.
It's been one week since High Evolutionary successfully stripped every mutant on Earth of their powers, making them into normal humans due to his belief that the mutants were too powerful and their depowering was the best, if not only, way to save humanity.
Despite this, he's begun to have second thoughts on his decision as he admits to his 'partner' Dr. Essex, who's with him in their laboratory, stating no one man should dictate how other people should live their lives.
However, Essex reminds him that with the mutants gone, eight billion human lives have been saved and thus, they've equalized the playing field, which High Evolutionary agrees with.
On Genosha, things are getting worse for the mutates, who've already been engaged in a civil war as now the humans and their cybernetic enforcers have the advantage.
However, Bobby and Hank, despite their own depowering, have been aiding the mutates anyway possible since meeting up with them.
As their group does battle with some of the enforcers, Magneto and the Acolytes arrive and, by using guerilla warfare tactics, the group beats the enforcers away.
As they recover, Bobby voices his surprise that Lorna is there, with Polaris replying the same with him, explaining she and the others had heard that Hank and Bobby were there and so had decided to rendezvous with them.
Lorna also adds that the Genosha human magistrates have been suppressing information, deciding to remove mutants from there once and for all, prompting Magneto's group to meet with the two former X-Men to pool their resources and find the person to blame.
At the UN building, Gabrelle Haller meets with the Security Council and suggests that, after learning that word has leaked from Genosha about their mutates losing their powers, that as Magneto is among those depowered, they can now arrest him for his crimes, only to be reminded of the last time they'd tried this.
As the meeting goes on, she privately admits that they need Charles and the X-Men, wondering where they are now.
At Xavier's, the school has been shut down until further notice due to the situation. In the Danger Room, Kurt is trying to do his usual workout, but without his normal muscles, or powers and tail, he lands in the netting below.
Climbing out, Kurt finds Peter there, as Peter admits he thought he'd find Kurt there. As they head back up, Kurt admits he doesn't see their depowering as a blessing as he needed to learn how to walk again without his tail and enjoyed his original form as the duo come upstairs, Peter having been making dinner to surprise Kitty after her first day of school.
Kitty then returns home from her first seminar and remarks that while she enjoyed it, she hates her peers as they're immature and shallow, as well as obsessed with cars, boys, etc. as Peter points out that that's what normal kids her age are usually interested in.
As the trio talk, they find a postcard from Warren and Betsy, Kitty remarking on how Warren's looking pretty happy despite the loss of his wings, to Kurt's bewilderment.
In upstate New York, Storm and Marrow are among the volunteers for Camp America, a camp for underprivileged kids.
After seeing the kids off, Marrow admits she has a date with Brad, a fellow councilor and who seems willing to look behind a person's appearance, despite her bone structures being gone.
As the duo leave, Ororo recalls when she first met Marrow and how, since their volunteering started, things've gone better than she expected, recalling how Marrow being with her has helped keep her sane, as the last time she lost her powers had nearly destroyed her.
As a storm blows in, Ororo can't help but wonder if she'll ever get used to feeling so little as she can no longer feel or sense when a storm comes.
Meanwhile, Rogue goes to see Mystique, posing as a lawyer while recalling how her powers had given her personal space and how strange it is to now experience having little to none.
Mystique, having been imprisoned after her depowering, is furious to learn her lawyers bailed after learning the list of her previous identities have been released by the Justice Department.
She demands Rogue to get her out, stating she won't last there in one form as there's too many charges against her, but Rogue reminds her they need to try and stay within the legal system as they're now normal humans.
At the same time, Domina and Hunter talk about how in just one afternoon, their race was almost completely destroyed, with Domina vowing the Neo will survive and they'll make the humans pay.
Meanwhile, the also powerless Jubilee is attacked by some punks and, though she fights back, she's quickly overpowered until Logan arrives and, despite his advanced adamantium poisoning, manages to take her attackers down.
As they catch their breath, Logan explains his condition to Jubilee and, upon her suggesting he ask Moira for help, admits Moria had already tried and failed to help him, revealing he'd only had his adamantium claws and skeleton back for a week before everybody was stripped of their powers.
Jubilee then suggests talking to High Evolutionary, but Logan decides against it, not wanting to ruin Rogue and Marrow's newfound happiness with their powers gone as he leaves to settle old scores with a man named Creed.
Meanwhile in a dark, dismal place, Dani discovers a techno-organic, giant, mechanical egg-like structure hosting Cable that'd called to her. However, Dani isn't able to understand as Cannonball joins her. Dani reveals that she had a vision on a psychic reality that's just as substantial as the one they're on.
This proves her powers aren't gone, just evolving, but into something terrible. On Genosha, things aren't much better as the mutates are in terrible pain.
Hank reveals to Bobby, Magneto, Polaris and the Acolytes that the mutates are stuck in a mid-transformation, an unnatural one. The process that reversed their powers is mutating their mutated genes but it's only a matter of time before all of Earth is affected as well.
As Lorna and Magneto reveals that they've prepared a ship for him and Bobby to use and reunite with the X-Men, Hank points out that the X-Men are just as helpless as well, but Magneto simply states that the X-Men will need to prove themselves regardless of their depowering while Lorna refuses to leave him despite Bobby wanting her to.
It's then revealed that Essex is really Mr. Sinister and that he's the one behind everything as he fries the High Evolutionary's suit, knocking him out before gloating over the fact that Earth is becoming a giant experiment as he's adding modifications to not only affect the DNA of mutants, but everybody on Earth and that there's seemingly no one left to stop him.
