Synopsis for "Inquiring Minds"

Cannonball is upset after a harsh lecture from Professor Charles Xavier. Cyclops approaches and offers some consolation, sharing his own experiences with Xavier's stern lectures. Cyclops suggests that Xavier's harshness may stem from other frustrations and reassures Sam of Xavier's greatness. Just then, Gambit and other X-Men arrive, warning of Juggernaut's presence on the estate, prompting a search by the X-Men.

At the same time, Jean Grey-Summers is secretly guiding Juggernaut to a hidden room under the mansion, originally designed to shield against telepathic probes. She intends to help Cain break through a psychic barrier imposed by Onslaught and find out who Onslaught really is. As Cain recounts Xavier's past deception, Jean reveals her troubled thoughts about Xavier's darker side, influenced by Onslaught.

Meanwhile, Cyclops splits the team to search for Juggernaut, suspecting he aims to attack Xavier. But after his psychic link with his wife Jean is severed, Cyclops checks on Xavier, discovering suspicious behavior as the Professor is looking at files about young Franklin Richards. Xavier denies any wrongdoing and promises to find Onslaught and Jean.

As Jean helps Cain to break through the psychic barrier, Xavier loses control upon witnessing a news report about recent violence on the mutant Dennis Hogan. In his rage, the presence of Onslaught manifests, confirming his connection to Xavier.

As Jean realizes Onslaught's identity, she urges Cain to escape. Onslaught, now fully revealed as a manifestation of Xavier's dark side, confronts Cain. He removes the gem of Cyttorak from Cain, leaving him powerless and at Onslaught's mercy. Onslaught, embodied by Xavier, orders the X-Men to cease their search for Cain, declaring him neutralized.
