Synopsis for "Doppelganger!"

The Entity has possessed the body of Professor X and manipulates Danielle Moonstar to help him take control of the New Mutants. Back in the Microverse, the X-Men and the Micronauts find themselves under fire from a sniper who they discover to be Kitty Pryde unknowingly under Baron Karza’s influence and who they instead assume to be corrupted by The Entity’s influence. The real Kitty Pryde, occupying the body armor of Baron Karza on Homeworld tells DeGrayde to call off the assault of his fleet to prevent killing her friends but DeGrayde seeks to betray Karza as she teleports to the planet and attacks Karza in her body. The X-Men and Micronauts arrive to stop the assault but she is unable to convince them of the body switch until Professor X’s astral form takes control of The Entity’s dying body and reveals the truth of the switch of their bodies as well as The Entity having control over his earthly body.

As the fleet of Baron Karza begins to attack them, they are rescued by Bioship and with Fireflyte’s connection to the Enigma Force, they breach the spacewall and return to Professor X’s mansion on Earth. Upon their arrival, the X-Men and the Micronauts come under sudden assault by the New Mutants under the control of The Entity while Nightcrawler takes care of the fatally wounded body inhabited by Professor X’s consciousness. Bioship is unable to revert them to their full size due to a lack of power and the need to help sustain the life force of the body inhabited by Professor X’s mind.

The Entity, attempting to use Cerebro to amplify his powers on Earth, finds himself distracted with the need to assist the less experienced New Mutants in battle while Professor X returns to the astral plane to take advantage of the distraction but must hurry after Magma unleashes a volcanic assault that causes significant damage to Bioship. Professor X successfully succeeds in entering the mind of his physical body.

Lockheed, defecting the danger Kitty is in seeks to come to her rescue while The Entity seeks to take over the mind of Baron Karza’s armor but they manage to successfully switch minds to their original selves before Karza mysteriously teleports away. The Entity, having detected Professor X’s presence attempts to battle him in his astral form but Professor X succeeds in taking his body back over.

Back in front of the mansion, the New Mutants have returned to their normals selves but Bioship is severely damaged and is unable to return the Micronauts back to the Microverse. Fireflyte is able to sing them back to the Microverse due to her connection to the Enigma Force, however, and the Bioship sacrifices himself to use his remaining power to restore the X-Men to their normal sizes while Professor X reveals The Entity is no more after returning his consciousness to his former body unaware that it had died.
