Synopsis for "X-Men vs Brood: Day of Wrath (Part 2)"

In Sedona, Arizona, Reverend William Connover learns that his wife, Hannah, had a violent encounter involving the Brood and the X-Men. The police reveal that Cyclops and the X-Men rescued Hannah. William, conflicted, vouches for the X-Men's goodness. The police inquire about changes in Hannah's behavior, and William admits to her emotional distance.

Hannah, determined to protect others from the Brood, argues with the X-Men about sacrificing herself. The Firstborn attack, and Hannah uses the chaos to escape. Wolverine's violent intervention is halted by Jean, who senses Hannah's plan. The X-Men decide to find Hannah before the Brood do.

A group from the ministry which are actually Broodlings originally infected by Hannah are able to defend their Queen until Wolverine arrives just in time to fend off the Brood. But overall the X-Men struggle against the seemingly indestructible Firstborn.

The X-Men consider freezing Hannah in cryogenic stasis to separate her from the Brood hivemind. Wolverine initially opposes, but reluctantly agrees to the plan, on the condition that he can deal with the Firstborn. The X-Men rescue the Connovers from the Firstborn, and Hannah enters cryogenic stasis. The Firstborn, sensing Hannah's "death," kill themselves as their mission is accomplished.

Back at the mansion, the X-Men discuss sending Hannah to Muir Island for further study. Xavier praises the team's accomplishment and emphasizes Hannah's importance in understanding the Brood.

Solicit Synopsis

The X-Men discover that the only way to save the Earth is to kill the Brood assassin's target, the Queen Brood! Trouble is, Jean Grey will let that happen over her dead body!

Notes

  • The X-Men place Hannah Conover's body in stasis at the Mansion so that they might someday find a cure for her Broods infection. This plotline has not been picked up on since. There was no reference to the character made when the Mansion was stripped bare by Bastion during the Operation: Zero Tolerance story arc.
