Since joining the X-Men, I've encountered all manner of people who could morph into killer robots and others who can travel in time. I've fought demons and aliens. I've flown to outer space. I've met -- dinosaurs. It seems to me that the world I thought I knew -- the life I hoped to build -- is but an illusion. Ordinary people, like I used to be, they believe they're the masters of their fate. What a joke. Their very existence is by the grace of people like us. That's why they're afraid. That's why they hate. If I were one of them, I know I would at least be tempted.
