Synopsis for "X-Women"

Rogue has inherited a villa on the Greek island of Kirinos, and invites Storm, Psylocke, Marvel Girl, and Shadowcat to join her on a girls' holiday. While partying at the villa, Marvel Girl is kidnapped, and Psylocke just manages to get the guests out by telekinesis before the villa is blown up. The remaining X-Women trace Rachel from Greece to Madripoor and attempt to bust her out of the villains' temple complex, but Rachel says she cannot leave yet and psychically explains the situation to Kitty. The girls are each hit by some sort of ray as they make their escape by flying over the jungle, and when Baroness Krieg presses a button, they all lose their powers. They fall to earth and narrowly escape drowning in a waterfall.

Under the cover of the weather, Storm had previously summoned, the X-Women slip away on Captain Dave's launch. Kitty retains some psychic link to Rachel and can see that Emma Frost is also being held, prisoner. They are traced by two helicopter gunships but Dave has inadvertently led them to an area of the island controlled by "cargo cultists" who have a mysterious way of bringing down aircraft. The helicopters are destroyed but the X-Women are now captured by the cultists. Betsy is put to work tending pigs, Anna is nursemaid to the cult's children, and the chief attempts to make an uncooperative Ororo his concubine, to his wife's chagrin. Kitty has come down with a fever, but through her psychic link comes to learn that arms dealer Baroness Krieg is using stolen Cerebra technology to combine and increase the powers of Rachel and Emma. With that much ability, she intends to telepathically provoke a war between India and China, making a huge profit and destabilizing the balance of power in the region.

The cult's base is attacked by soldiers, and it becomes apparent that the cult's chief has the mutant power to disable machinery. He agrees to help the X-Women stop the war and rescue their friends. When the baroness tries to launch her scheme, the chief causes a power cut over Madripoor Hightown. This also knocks out the power nullifier and the X-Women regain their powers. In the subsequent battle, it turns out that the nullifier merely amplified Krieg's own innate ability to remove other mutants' powers, but she is nevertheless defeated and tries to flee in an escape pod. Shadowcat phases the pod through a wall, destroying it, and Storm freezes the baroness by bringing down a tornado of super-cold air from the troposphere. A vengeful Emma punches and kicks Krieg's frozen body before they turn her over to the local authorities and notify the great powers of her intentions.

As they leave in the chief's plane, Rogue ruefully apologizes that this was not the vacation she had in mind. Her friends resolve to cheer her up and the X-Women continue their partying at the cultists' camp.
