—Lady Yulan[source]Where I come from, back in my day, you wore white for funerals. I've worn it ever since. Do you go to a lot of funerals, Mr. Knight?
History
Born in the Yuan Dynasty, Yulan was raised from birth to be an assassin to the dread immortal Yi Yang. She was the first vampire of her bloodline created by Yang's alchemy and, in Yang's service, she killed over one thousand men, more than a century before the birth of Vlad Dracula. With time, however, Yulan decided to leave China and Yang, as she realized her master's immortality had soured her soul and mind. Determined not to let the same thing happen to herself, she establishing her own vampire clan and adapted as the years changed, thus avoiding the alienation of immortality.[1]
Eventually moving to the U.S., Yulan met Kenneth, soon rebranded The Tutor, and was intrigued by his theories on social integration of vampirism as an evolutionary step rather than the natural parasitic infection. She quickly realized he had ulterior motives, but he took one of her brides and used her blood to become a vampire, fleeing the country before she could enact vengeance. She didn't see him for long and, when he returned years later, he had an ultimatum: leave him to his business or he'd tell Yang where to find Yulan. Without much of a choice, Yulan formed a truce with The Tutor.[1]
When Moon Knight found her home in Chinatown,[2] he came to her asking for information that could help him kill The Tutor. As Yulan still wanted him dead, she told Moon Knight their story and where to find The Tutor.[1] Before long, Moon Knight confronted The Tutor at his lair.[3]Personality
Attributes
Powers
- Yulan has powers consistent with Vampires including longevity and superhuman strength and speed, strengthened over 600 years experience. It is unclear if her vampirism being derived from Yi Yang's alchemy rather than more "traditional" means (such as Varnae's strain) imbues her with any additional strengths or weaknesses, though she was depicted as manifesting a demonic-looking visage when angered by Mr. Knight.[1]
