History

Known as interstellar pirates, the Z'nox looted and plundered the many planets and worlds with the reach of their capabilities. Coming across a gravity drive large enough to move their entire planet, the Z'nox were then able to destroy worlds with the massive gravitational stress imposed by their approaching planet.[3]

When Professor Xavier of the X-Men learned of their planet's path toward Earth, he went into seclusion to devise a counter-attack to the impending threat. Months later, the Z'nox arrived to the Solar system, at which point they sent a scout ship to Earth to act as a beacon. Both the X-Men and S.H.I.E.L.D. intercepted the ship, but only the former managed to infiltrate it. Inside the ship, in a feat linking the compassionate minds of the world, funnelled through Jean Grey and blasted through the optic beam of Cyclops, the Z'nox were overwhelmed and overcome by the sudden barrage of kindness and warmth. Unable to handle the "mental corrosion" of this counter-attack, the Z'nox planet reversed its course and left the solar system.[3]

The scout ship was left behind on Earth, but all of the crew had committed suicide, except for one member who hid on Earth. Hydra got hold of the corpses, along with acquiring a deadly alien virus which was to be used as a contingency plan if the invasion failed. Three CIA agents, Seeker, Ranger and Sentry infiltrated the Hydra base to destroy, but the latter betrayed his partners as he stole a vial of the virus. He intended to sell it to the surviving Z'nox, only for the vial to shatter and infecting everyone present, killing numerous people while Sentry's body was mutated.[4]

Shortly thereafter, the Fantastic Four and X-Men traveled to the Z'nox world, when Mr. Fantastic became concerned that Xavier's plan had not truly neutralized the Z'nox. On the Z'nox world, Reed was able to use the gravity drive to open a portal to an empty dimension between our reality and the Negative Zone, where he sent and trapped the hostile planet. He also fused their gravity drive so they could never return to attack other worlds. Despite the majority now trapped, countless Z'nox that were left on other planets continued with their activities.[5]

The Z'nox family, the S'Thalin, defected to Earth where they made a deal with S.W.O.R.D. to give the Z'nox operating procedures in exchange for a resettlement program. However, Henry Gyrich, in his campaign to deport aliens, had a strike team to restrain the family.[6]

The Z'Nox were later conquered by the Shi'ar. Their homeworld was assaulted by a Shi'ar armada and the Imperial Guard, led by Emperor Vulcan himself who personally assaulted the citadel where the Z'Nox king was located.[7]

Miscellaneous

Type of Government

World-wide military dictatorship. The Z'nox were ruled over by a king.[7]

Level of Technology

Very high, with warp-drive starships, force fields, and vastly powerful weaponry. Through a gravity transformer, the Z'nox can shift their entire planet through hyperspace from one location in real space to another. They also had genetically engineered guardian monsters.[3]

Cultural Traits

The Z'nox were said to have evolved to be inhumane, amoral, cruel, decadent, and lacking in all positive emotions. They dedicated their entire lives to conquer planets and spread death which was their only art and joy, taking the planets' surviving inhabitants as slaves.[3] Because of this, the Z'nox were seen as locusts that destroyed any planet they came across, before moving onto the next one.[8]
