History

Zaoxing and Wanxia were twins born on the very same second. Raised in a Taiji test lab, each child was told that their respective sibling was dead.

Zaoxing's uncontrollable pyrotechnic abilities forced him into confinement, only occasionally visited by his caretaker Bao. Told from a young age that his twin had died at birth, he felt a presence just beyond his reach, akin to a phantom limb. Though outgoing, this presence and the seeming loss of his twin caused him great sadness. Eventually, prior to the age of 16, Zaoxing and Wanxia exerted enough control over their abilities to break out of the containment facilities they were in, meeting for the first time. Their first physical contact immediately caused a large explosion, vaporizing nearby Taiji forces, and killing Bao.

At age 16, the duo made their way to New York City, where they helped the Avengers defeat an attack supposedly orchestrated by A.I.M. and informed them of the threat posed by Taiji.[1]

Attributes

Powers

  • Heat Generation: Zaoxing can increase the temperature around himself and project blasts of intense heat from hands. When he uses his power, his eyes and the left side of his chest glows red-orange.[1]
    • Heat and Fire Immunity: Zaoxing seems to be unable to feel heat or to be harmed by fire. As a child he lived in the room full of burning things with no problems.[1]
  • Joint Explosion Generation: When in physical contact with each other, the twins can generate a massive uncontrollable explosion; this is the reason why the twins were raised separately.[1]

Trivia

  • Dragonfire and Coldmoon were created by Marvel so they could be used for a mobile game in the Chinese market. However, the game never materialized, so the twin's first appearance also became their only one.[2]
