History
Zenobia was the daughter of Nemedian petty nobility.
After Zenobia helped King Conan of Aquilonia to defeat a conspiracy against his rule, he took her as her wife and queen. Together they had three children: Prince Conn, Princess Radegund, and Taurus. She died bearing their fourth child.[1]Notes
- Zenobia was created by Robert E. Howard in "The Hour of the Dragon" ((Weird Tales; December, 1935 through April, 1936).
- Her name was possibly inspired by Zenobia (Septimia Zenobia, 240–274 BC), a third-century queen of the Palmyrene Empire in Syria.[2]
Trivia
- Clark Ashton Smith's region of Averoigne includes the settlement of Ste. Zenobie. Whether this was made as a reference, or is a mere coincidence (presumably drawing on the same real-life inspiration) remains unrevealed.
