History

Zxaxz was a 'spellbinder', a powerful magic user who could harness the power of order and chaos to reshape reality. Once a hero in his own dimension, he forged a pair of magical rings to enhance his power in order to drive off his rival spellbinder, the 'Other'. However, the power he wielded eventually drove him mad. He became a brutal conqueror, crushing any rebellion and destroying entire worlds, believing everything he did was necessary to hold back the Other.[1]

After learning of the existence of a third spellbinder, the human Erica Fortune, Zxaxz travelled to Earth to destroy this potential threat to his rule. Erica managed to take his rings and used their power to destroy him.[2] However, the increasingly erratic Erica soon restored him as well. Zxaxz attacked Erica's friends and family in an attempt to drive her out, but when they confronted each other again, the energy released by their struggle attracted the attention of the Other. Zxaxz agreed to a brief truce with Erica in order to work together against his true enemy. Zxaxz drove the Other back to his home dimension.[3]

Zxaxz's empire was briefly usurped by the now power-mad Erica Fortune, but he was eventually able to overthrow her.[4] After imprisoning her within a crystal structure, he attempted to ransom her back to her family in exchange for the return of his rings, which were in the possession of Erica's brother Roy. Roy defeated him and left him trapped within a black hole.[5]
